Notts Police Uncover 3,000 Cannabis Plants

In a raid at a old chicken factory today, police have uncovered 3,000 cannabis plants and £350,000 of lighting and equipment. The PO on the BBC said it was worth 350K, but the BBC themselves have it down as 250K of equipment.

Here is a link to a BBC video on it.

And the BBC article:

An anonymous tip-off has led to the discovery of a cannabis factory in Nottinghamshire containing 3,000 plants with a street value of £3m.
Officers raided a former chicken factory on Barrows Hill Lane in Jacksdale where they also found electrical equipment worth £250,000.
Police described the factory as a "sophisticated set-up", containing living quarters complete with a gym.
Seven men, aged between 20 and 48, have been arrested.
The men are currently in police custody following the raid on Wednesday afternoon.
'Huge scale'
Ch Insp Mark Wakeland said: "One attending officer who has executed drugs warrants for the past seven years said it was the biggest and most sophisticated set-up he had ever seen.
"Cannabis plants were being grown on an industrial scale across the factory floor - a huge space roughly 50m (164ft) long by 25m (82ft) wide."
He added it was "an immensely professional operation".
Officers acted on information received anonymously via Crimestoppers.

And a Nottingham Evening post article:

NOTTS' RECORD HAUL OF CANNABIS PLANTS

Police have recovered £3m of cannabis plants from a disused factory in Jacksdale.

It is thought the haul is the biggest seized by police in Notts.

Seven men have been arrested in connection with the find at a former chicken factory in Barrows Hill Lane.

Around £250,000 worth of electrical equipment and drug-making paraphernalia was also seized.

Chief Inspector Mark Wakeland said: "One attending officer, who has executed drugs warrants for the past seven years, said it was the biggest and most sophisticated set-up he had ever seen.

"Cannabis plants were being grown on an industrial scale across the factory floor; a huge space roughly 50m long by 25m wide.

"An immensely professional operation was running on site, to the extent that upstairs office space had been converted into living quarters complete with a gymnasium.

"We have confiscated approximately 3,000 cannabis plants, an incredible result thanks to information passed on via the community."

The seven men arrested, who are 20, 25, 26, 27, 28, 34 and 48 remain in custody and are being questioned by police.
