The Dreamer's Home Made Hookah:
My cat has had a lot of trouble taking Cannabis. Our landlord is right downstairs and I'd rather the house didn't smell like it because my family can be less than open-minded about certain things. So smoking it outright is not an option for him.
First he tried making butter and that worked to some extent but you just don't get the same kick out of it. Plus, the inconvenience of having to wait hours for the onset is a huge factor for him. It also is less than predictable and more than once while he was out running errands the butter kicked in an hour or so early. It completely ruined his high (and his errands).
Next he made one of those light bulb mini-vaporizers. But those didn't work too well for him either. He kept burning the shit out of his paws and every once in a while the lighter would just pop and the little flint wheel would go flying off. It's just not safe to have a lighter going for that long especially if he's getting high. My cat was on edge whenever he used it.
So a few weeks ago he came up with this idea:
- He took a (make sure it's HEAT SAFE!) silicone funnel and turned it upside down so that the smaller end faces upward.
- Then he took some aluminum foil and made a little cup about as big around as the funnel. He made sure it was tall enough to cover the entire funnel right up to the smaller end.
- He rolled up some more tin foil and made little rings to hold the funnel about half an inch above the bottom of the foil cup. Actually he did this the second time around because the funnel started to smoke.
- Then he placed his herb in the bottom of the cup in the middle of the little rings, set the funnel into the cup and wrapped the sides of the cup around the funnel leaving no holes except for the small end of the funnel.
- Last he took some old aquarium tube (don't make it too long or the oils will condense and stay in the tube) and stuck it in the top hole of the funnel. The smallest thickness of aquarium tube is the kind he used.
- Then he placed the little device on the stove on medium low and waited about 5 minutes until light smoke could be seen coming out of the little hole (the aquarium tube doesn't fit perfectly).
I think you know what he did next.
Does anybody have anything similar that they've made or perhaps just an idea? He'd be very interested in improving is design.
He made it for about $10 and it works wonderfully. He also bought a portable double-burner for about $30 so that he can do it around the house instead of in the kitchen.
He uses one of those little gel things that is supposed to suck up smells and no one has ever mentioned it. And trust me his wife mentions smells when she smells them.
