Interesting effect from medium/high doses of ketamine - subconscious reading?

My typist has noted a most interesting effect from ketamine recently.

This effect occurs, in his experience, mostly in the upper-high dose band (sub k-hole, but definitely psychedelic doses - the level at which double vision/CEV/serious shifts of time/reality start to become apparent)

My typist can be presented with a sheet of text, and despite his vision being too far gone to actually be able to distinguish the letters, he is quite capable of reading aloud what the writing says, on an almost subconscious level - but as soon as he "tries" to read what the text says, he finds himself unable to.

He has heard of DXM users in the upper plateaus experiencing similar effects, but he has never tried DXM himself.

Anyone else noticed this? I guess it's quite a hard concept to grasp unless SWIYself has experienced it.
