Question Sugar and Opiate addiciton

Are you a opiate addict and a sugar addict?

Swim can never get enough candy, chocolate...etc and is wondering if many other people who are on opiates have a similar "addiction" to sugar substances.

As many of you know sugar based foods release a small flood of endogenous feel good chemicals, mainly through the beta-endorphin system in the brain. Swim has heard that the release of the chemicals is very similar to how opiates effect the body.

Re: Sugar and Opiate addiciton

Swim personally does not like sugar.. Hes trying to watch his weight.. But swims good friend who was a hard core opiate addict was famous for eating mass amounts of lollipops when he had no opiates.. swim could allways tell the shitty days when he would go over and he would be eating lollipops.

Re: Sugar and Opiate addiciton

Swim is a heavy cannabis user, and a moderate opiate uswr and loves sugar. IS there any connection between the receptors in the brain and sugar and opiates.

Swim is somewhat similar Spare's friend. When he does not have opiates, he eats icecream like nobodies buisness.

Re: Sugar and Opiate addiciton

Gee SWIM is wierd. Its the other way around for her. She does not bother much with sweeties when she's clean but has such as sweet tooth on opiates. SWIM put on weight when she started using because of this. Its all gone now though

No, I'm not a fan of candy or chocolate bars or anything like that. I do like chocolate milk though

Post Re: Sugar and Opiate addiciton

Psychology Today actually had an article fairly recent about drugs and sweets/foods and how they all use the same system to create addiction. I know my summary is pretty vague but I'll find the magazine later and cite the article. It was pretty interesting.
