Other - Benzedrex (propylhexedrine) Discontinued?

SWIM was looking around his local drug stores and department stores for Benzedrex inhalers containing Propylhexedrine but he couldn't find any. He then called a local pharmacy and they said that the product has been discontinued. Have any other people who aren't you experienced this problem?BTW, SWIM had a problem with his first propylhexedrine experience (chest pains, etc) but he told me he went to the doctor and was given a clean bill of health, so SWIM wanted to give it another shot, except without eating the cottons and doing an extraction (and probably a lower dose).

SWIM purchased an OTC Benzedrex inhaler about a year ago at a corner drug store in Georgia. One pharmacist told him that it might be a manufacturing issue, and another (different drug store chain) told him it had been discontinued (which could either mean that the makers stopped making it or the store stopped buying it). SWIM just can't find it around here anymore. The last time he saw it on the shelf was 2-3 months ago when he was looking for something for his allergies. I did a forum search and I haven't found anyone with the same problem as SWIM so I'm guessing that it probably is some kind of local manufacturing or delivery issue and that one of the stores stopped buying it because of that.

Oh sorry looked up and see it is a stimulant, Darvocet is dextropropoxyphen.

No problem. Take a look at the molecular structure of Propylhexedrine and SWIY will see that it is very similar in structure to Meth, except that Propyl has a cyclohexyl group and meth has a phenyl group (I think that's right, it's been a while since organic chemistry Maybe the US government caught on to its recreational potential and pursuaded the manufacturers to discontinue it. Different stores are giving SWIM different answers.

SWIM has noticed the same thing around the local Pharm boxes... pharmacist told swim that they were discontinued.... BTW SWIM is in Northern IN,USA (sorry in advance mods. not sure whether location is allowed??)
SWIM was left with no other option other than online order thru an EXTREMELY well know Country-wide reconized pharmacy. (Is a "VAGUE" source description allowed?)(In my own defense, a source isn't provided, but only the means for a well informed search engine query.)

A quick Google-search has located a plethora of outlets carrying this item. It may be "discontinued" in Georgia - but it's certainly alive and kicking (with 250mg propylhexedrine) all over the civilized (snicker) world. Perhaps your platypus should point this out to the pharmacist who stated otherwise.

Not to worry. Swim was able to locate some at a particular drugstore about 15 miles from his home. The same drugstore chains that are really close to swim's house just stopped carrying it for some reason. SWIM also came across a couple drugstores close to his home that had a place on their shelves for Benzedrex but were out of stock. Maybe SWIM has a few fellow Benzedrex fans in his neighborhood

Sounds like the local SWIM-Team made one to many visits to the local pharmacy. Please ask SWIM to be more low-key - before Bongo reads some nutty headline about the latest "Scourge On Our Youth!"

It would be against the interest of fellow Benzedrex fans to call up or visit every drugstore within a 50 mile radius and ask specifically for Benzedrex and then hangup or leave the store empty handed if they didn't have it. It's also a bad idea to become a "regular customer" who shows up every other day to buy a handfull of inhalers. Very suspicious.

SWIM, however, is usually low-key about obtaining OTC fun. SWIM only called a couple stores and when they said they didn't have it, he asked if they could recommend another nasal decongestant. As for the other stores he visited, SWIM never asked for Benzedrex. He just went in, picked up a few things he was going to buy anyway (drinks, etc), and then glanced through the medicine aisle. If it was there he'd get one and if it wasn't, then he'd checkout.

SWIM believes that eventually Benzedrex with propylhexedrine will be discontinued. But until then, SWIM will enjoy the inhalers along with the 10,000 liters of pepsi he bought just looking for the stuff

The abuse potential is low enough that neither the DEA nor the WHO consider it a drug of concern, unlike ephedrine or its salts. However, attempts to extract the drug from the nasal inhaler and then inject it have been known. Abuse by injection is dangerous and could result in death, which has been recorded.

Lession? It might not be discontinued and don't inject it! Or smoke it for that matter as it is known in occasions to cause permanent paralysis on the people who smoke it.

@necromonster nah no rules were broken there nor were they even flirted with, everything mentioned is fine.

I'm curious about propylhexedrine after having a rough time concentrating at work so I might ask my raver friends to report back to me after they try it soon. It may be worthwhile to find some sort of bulk-ordering method if trials prove successful.

SWIM lives in Argentina and tried find it here, the pharmacists he asked had not even heard of it, despite him finding the spanish name for propylhexedrine (propilhexedrina - apparently) but perhaps its going by another name / brand here and elsewhere? Anyone got some info on that?

Also, are there any other comparable nasal spray / inhalators of somewhat similar value?

nope sorry... its just not a very used chemical.. . dont believe any other brand has it... maybe you could order it over seas if it really is worth swiy trying... but unless it readily available swim doesnt think its worth going through to many hoops for... its great but not end of the world without it kind of great... lol good luck swiy

SWIM probably will not bother ordering it and what not from somewhere else, he can probably get couple grams of coke or more for the price that would cost for only a bottle of that stuff from overseas as he lives in a country where the coke is produced and cheap to get hold of - though he misses some amphetamines. That is really hard getting here he said. He is not a specially big fan of coke, he prefers amphetamines but oh well what can he do, its good enough and at least cheap here so he'll survive.

Propyl has been replaced and re-introduced into the Benzedrex inhaler several times since it replaced amphetamine in the original Benzedrine inhaler in the '50s/'60s. Today it's considered to have a low potential for abuse by the DEA. Hopefully no one will die, post retarded Youtube videos of themselves on Benzedrex, or do anything else stupid to get it outlawed yet again.

SWIM's local Wal-Green's HAS to know what's up with this drug. Everytime SWIM goes checks out, several other people are buying the same thing. Plus, the supply seems to run low VERY fast and is replaced even faster, while the Vick's inhalers and similar products never sell. Everyone remember to use common sense and harm reduction techniques with this drug!
