Smoking - The Pez session- Butane honey oil extraction

Hey everyone, made some honey oil the a couple days back, turned out great, super potent. Bud used was pez. Hope you like the pics.

In the last pic the honey "oil" looks more solid/gooey,SWIM has not yet tried butane extracts of pot does it normally turn out liquidy or solid?

Hey fnord, it hardens like to a jolly rancher candy consistincy, but it will start to soften when heat is near or just from touch it will turn to a sticky mess

It looks as though it has some emulsion-layer material in it to cause the bubbles. One might consider redissolving the oil in hexane or heptane and placing in a separatory-funnel and wash it with some water. Then distilling off the solvent. But that might be a bit much for what the Duck is after.

Wish swim knew how to do the things mentioned above^ This was swims 2nd time making oil, the first batch had zero if any bubbles in it, swim thinks its because this batch was larger more bubbles stayed in it for some reason. Sure gets the job done though. Good meds for the duck. my bad 007

SWIM is hoping the gas cooker in the pictures was not actually heating the pan of liquid beneath the pan of honey oil and butane? The fact the pictures and thread have been posted suggests a great deal of the butane was allowed to evaporate first, but perhaps a warning should be edited in in case others read this as a tek?

Beautiful beautiful honey oil, SWIM is sure SWIYs duck will be happy for a long long time.

Does SWIYs duck have any plans/ideas of how to store it, SWIM never found a way he was fully happy with.

Is the glass/pryex dish with the scale tared before weighing?

What is the capsules swiy used to inject the butane in.

How does swiy prefer to smoke his honey oil? Ontop of bud or vaped with crackpipe method.

Yo guys, Glad you checked out the thread, So first the capsules with the herb in them are just glass tube a glassblower friend of swims made him just for this purpose. Stoner that swim is , he forgot to weigh the pyrex dish before filling it with oil so the pic shows the weight of the honey and the dish.

The pics of the stove top have the burners on low, just to speed the evaporation of any butane, but most has already evaporated by this time outside.

As far as storage goes, the duck was going to keep most in the freeze and use as needed. Should keep him and his friends busy for awhile

Phaze would love for you to post the weight of the pyrex dish if possible. That way if swiy weighed the dish alone math could tell how much honey oil was yeilded, which is a interesting question to phaze.

Yo PHaze, swim made the small stoner mistake of forgetting to weigh the dish before filling it with teh oil, woops, but ill post the weight of the dish after it is empty, eta another month or 3 swim thinks its about an oz. or a bit more.

what type of cylinders are those? swim noticed a tip on one end for the gas? and the other seemed to be covered and then secured with a hose clamp what material is that a netting of a sort? just gas,evaporate,scrape,smoke? btw swim tried this before but with only a little low resources but still ended up with a butane taste in the oil how long do swiy evap?

Yo man, the glass tubing THEY used is usually used to make bongs but a glass blower buddy made these tubes to make oil with. The material on the end is a coffee filter held on with a hose clamp. To help speed up the evaporation HE likeS to put some water in a pan on the stove on low and set the dish of oil on top, it will bubble and eventually there will be no more bubbles, then you can scrape it up and get your roast on.

One would apply slow heat - if any - until all bubbles have vanished. The bubbles (emulsion) trap the residual solvent in the oil. One should be aiming for a consistently smooth material - which should have no hydrocarbon taste.

One caveat: THC, when in solution in a hydrocarbon such as pentane/hexane, breaks down rapidly when exposed to sunlight. Which spectrum of light is the major culprit is unknown by me. So one's Walrus should bear this in mind.
