Permanent tracers?

Ever since SWIM has tried LSD, he has permanent tracers and other random hallucinations throughout his day. Mostly things you only would see on shrooms or LSD. SWIM has done shrooms many times, but not until he did acid did he really notice hallucinations after the trips were over. Is this bad? SWIM thinks it's pretty neat, it doesn't bother him... but is it going to be like this forever?

aka HPPD.

SWIM had the same thing he's pretty sure it's gone down over the past 6 months or so. Either that or he's just gotten way used to it and isn't amused by it as much. He didn't mind it at all either.

Re: Permanent tracers?

It certainly doesn't last forever because SWIM experienced this too after using LSD for the first time. It's difficult to put a timespan on it but it does go away.

I dont know much about LSD but I read somewhere that certain drugs get absorbed by your body into your fat etc, and sometimes as you exert yourself, you burn off some fat and release small amounts of the drug back into your blood stream. Swim cant confirm this and isn't sure which drug 'it' was talking about. Intresting though.

Re: Permanent tracers?

SWIM's friend said that since acid is such an emotional and intense experience, small hallucinations may occur post-trip because of an emotional state of mind. For example, one night SWIM was out in his driveway having a cig with some friends and he started seeing lots of moving lights and floating stars in the sky. SWIM also just got done smoking opium. SWIM felt amazing in the summer air and very extremely comfortable. It wasn't a very emotional experience, but perhaps emotional enough to trigger memories of an acid trip? Either way, it was enjoyable. I can imagine a schizophrenic person having a very bad emotional flashback if triggered correctly.

I don't have much knowledge myself about the matter, but the article probably was talking about THC, since it has such a long half-life, and there can never be enough negative material about marijuana in this country.

Some psychoactives are absorbed into lipid deposits in the body, but they are absorbed in such minute amounts, that even their complete re-release into the blood stream would not produce psychoactive concentrations. The most well known drug that does this is Cannabis, which follows the above suit in not producing psychoactivity when 'fat is burned'. Additionally, most of the "THC" that is stored in lipid deposits is THC-COOH, an inactive metabolite of Delta-9-THC.

There is an interesting happening known as depot-binding, in which a certain percentage of a given drug will bind to essentially inactive receptors, and wait there until its more desired active receptor becomes free. This causes some drugs to last twice as long at higher doses, because some of it is simply not absorbed until most of a half-life has already been completed!

To answer the OP, listen to RaverHippie, and go do some reading on HPPD.
