How did SWIY quit cocaine?
I haven't seen a thread like this around, and did a quick search on it, nothing appeared to me. If this already exists, which it probably does... I apologize.
--- As the topic asks, how did SWIY quit? SWIM doesn't consider himself a big user, but it was considerable enough. He's a rather noobie user, starting in early June. Since then he's bought an 8-ball every weekend. Until now. SWIM was actually supposed to grip today and his dealer vanished. SWIM went up in flames... tearing apart his room in sheer anger. SWIM has never felt such violent rage in his life. At that point SWIM realized that it was time to call it quits. He told his dealer that he didn't want to deal with anymore. SWIM also recently took up the cross (went to Christ) for guidance. He recently put his cross necklace back on and hasn't had cocaine plaguing his mind. SWIM has decided to go back to marijuana. Considering that the price of good weed is half that of an 8-ball which will last 5x as long. Perhaps it was the novelty of cocaine wearing off. The buzz was starting to disappear and all he felt further and further into the night was rage, irritation, and paranoia. So SWIM is curious... what made you ex-SWIMMERS drop the white? |

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
SWIM quit after about 6 months of heavy regular use. By this time, it was no longer a fun activity but instead a compulsion. He felt irritable, paranoid, strung out, anxious, and depressed ALL the time, but especially when he was coked out. There was no more euphoric high, just an almost instant comedown and craving for more coke. At this point, SWIM decided it wasn't nearly worth the friends, time, money, life, and happiness it had cost him. So he just stopped. The problem? SWIM has gone over a year without touching cocaine. He knows his tolerance is way down and that the fun would be renewed, so guess what SWIM is craving again?

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
SWIM and his wife swapped their coke and alcohol parties for coke and GHB, after that it stopped being an issue.
They haven't had any coke for a long while now and, tbh, aren't really bothered with it anymore. Too much sniffling and snuffling and blocked noses for their liking. I've written about his experience with coke and GHB before but, I figure, anyone who is really struggling to kick the compulsion would do well to re-examine their coke and alcohol partnership. For any noobs who might not be aware, published research has shown for some time now that the product of cocaine and alcohol is cocaethylene and it is more harmful to the body than either of the two substances individual harm combined. I have already posted numerous links to research papers showing the efficacy of GHB in treating cocaine addiction so UTFSE. |

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
smurf stopped after many years of heavy cocaine abuse in a odd way. perhaps smurf was fortunate in the way it all ended. smurf has always been a quality slut. so when the quality got so bad smurf could'nt take the mind fuck anymore & realised to stop. it was'nt making smurf feel wired any more. it just made smurf anxious & focus on the dissapointment of the quality & nasal problems.
there comes a time when you haved to face reality. it was pointless to go looking for the good stuff when it was'nt there any more. yes the cravings have been harsh & if the good stuff popped up again there would'nt be any hesitations, but to let something like that be your main focus blinding you from other things it's not worth it. you missing out on other cool things. |

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
As SWIM's first post, he would like to say that after about 6 months of heavy cocaine use (minimum 0.5g a day) and multiple attempts to quit, he finally did.
It kind of came to him as a sudden realization on his first experience on LSD. SWIM doesn't know how to explain it other than it being somewhat of a revelation. He had almost no withdrawls at all aside from when being under the influence of large amounts of alcohol. SWIM ,for one, doesn't advocate or gaurentee a cure of any sort by covering up one drug with another, that is just his, almost, miracle that happened by fate or chance. |

xAlliancex,
nice one mate. well done. this too is what caused part of the revelation for smurf, lsd has many benefits to analyze things in ones mind. god seems to have had a hand in the whole process of things as it was difficult to break away. all the best swimmers. SWIM said,
Im old. 35 years and 2 kids from a pre mariage. been doing coke for 12 years. stopped having fun with it in 1999. but just kept on embarresing kids, family and friends. Loved ones. Looked a little into the family history, took an even closer look at my father, and then finally. took some responsibility myself. im an alcoholic. the only reeson i ever did coke, was to be able to bring more. thats stupid. but even so, the way back is loooooooooong. i was clean and soder fro 6 months and enjoyed so much success.now i recently fucked up. big time. and i know there i ar long and winding road back to happiness. so this time i have cheeted and in a week i will have some pill operated into my arm. this prevents me from drinking. it does nothing for my mental development. but that will be up to me then. Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
^^^Good luck to you. I probably have a drinking problem too. I don't think it was a problem before but its been a long time in development... I think that some addictions are driven by compulsive behavior, and its sounds cliche but its tough to break the habit!!! Maybe a physical or financial barrier is just what it takes to stop. I can't stand the thought of admitting I have a problem or asking for help. One, because I know those around me will think less of me and I refuse to expose that weakness, and two because I don't want them to stop me if I need to go back!
I know its not healthy, but I don't have a problem so bad it means life or death and I'd rather be in control of my own life. Its great that you're doing well, happy and successful now that you're sober. Friendly added 2 Minutes and 38 Seconds later... Especially for your family and kids. Thank you for doing this for them. Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
SWIM had really bad cocaine issues over the last 6 months SWIM would get paid upto £1000 a week (he did price work bricklaying) and everyday without fail he would do £80 just on coke then he would need beer and weed, but recently and i mean 1-2 month ago SWIM lost his long time girlfriend from 3 years (SWIM is 18 she is 23) she owned her own house SWIM moved in with her around 1-2 years ago but because of hes pathetic addictions he lost everything he lost his childhood sweet heart is family home and is back living with his mother, SWIM over the last 6 month has seen his wages from work decreasing seeing as hes turning in late and not having energy to do work seeing he has been up all night snorting cocaine and had 2 hours sleep so just sleep in the car the most of the day SWIM has now quit weed totally and not had it for 4 week drinking is still not so good hes doing alot of binging but only at the weekends and the £80 a day on cocaine has been cut down to almost £80 a weekend, Nobody is saying quit altogether bro just make sure you dont make SWIM's problems and put drugs before life just try to ease off 'em do them at the weekend say? and cut down? then after time if you want to quit it full stop then you go for it bro, Good luck with it though man

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
luckily SWIM's hot connect stopped answering, and the rest was crap, made it easy... the benefit was far underneath the price, SWIM said fuck it. SWIM also ran into some acid and it also made it easy

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
For SWIM, quitting was a constant battle. She used for about 6 months. It started innocently enough, partying, but soon she was up to almost an 8ball a day habbit. The quality was getting worse and worse and she wasn't getting high at all anymore, just craving more and more. constant depression, and she knew she had to quit. With the help of a boyfriend who would never give up on her, even though she lied to him about coke a million times, she got off the stuff for about 2 weeks.
Then out of the blue she got a call from an old coke buddy... well long story short, she ended up doing it again, got raped, got handed a gram and then dropped back off at her appartment. She didn't even want to look at herself anymore. After that swim was back at the old habit...escaping the pain again. Her boyfriend was out of town the entire span of her coke addiction, until about 2 weeks after the last incident. Once he got back, since she had lied once more about quitting, it was easier to limit her use. Soon she was down to an 8 ball every 2 weeks, and then her connect robbed her and dropped of the face of the earth. By that point she didn't have much choice, and she has been clean ever since. She feels a billion times better without the addiction, but it never completely left her mind. She still has dreams about it occasionally, and sometimes a random smell will suddenly remind her of it. The thing is like DryIce said in the original post, now that its been so long, swim thinks it would be great to do it again, just once, since tolerance is gone. She thinks it would be a lot like that amazing first time. She doesn't know if she could trust herself to only do it at the party though... |

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
SWIM was doing coke pretty regularly for about six months. Slowly the amount he was doing was more and more and in a shorter time span. Other people started to notice how thin he looked (and he is a pretty skinny dude to begin with) but his mentor in school commented one day on his weight since he is a dancer. He was at a crossroads of what he loved to do and what he was born to do. The emotional highs and lows compounded by school and just life caught up to him when he least expected it.
It's almost been a year since SWIM has even seen cocaine and although the times have been hard, he's really put energy into his life, re-focusing what matters most. If you want to stop, you can. Be smart and honest with yourself about your problem and seek help if you doubt your own self control. |

So SWIM is curious... what made you ex-SWIMMERS drop the white?[/quote] SWIM quit after realizing there was more important things in life and what his addiction was doing to the people and the things he loved. It took a hard reality check for this to happen but thankfully it did happen. SWIM does still dabble on occasion and he is sure he may dabble for a long time to come. What SWIM does believe is that for him, moderation is key and having a stronger control over the drug. It seems off key to say but that was his experience. Keeping busy, having friends to talk to and thorough research on the drug, it's effects and he knew it was mind over matter. He's an addictive person, so the urges never go away. What went away was the control the drug had over him. Hope this helps, I'm new and I am just posting randomly. Good Luck |

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
SWIM first tried cocaine at the age of 16. SWIM never habitually abused cocaine til after he turned 18. About 8 months ago SWIMs use got rather heavy, around an 8ball a night. It slowed down quite two about 2 grams a day. SWIM eventually kicked his habit. However, a his pet cat turned him onto a line and lead SWIM to relapse. About a week or two into the relapse SWIM began mainlining cocaine. He would mainline as much as he could and would do anything for the rush. SWIM began stealing money, pawning jewelry, anything for money for cocaine. SWIM soon ran into quite a bit of legal trouble. SWIM couldn't believe what he had gotten himself into. SWIM didn't realize how addicting cocaine really is, or didn't care at the time. SWIM didn't care who he hurt, or that he was hurting family and friends, he just wanted his cocaine. After SWIM ran into his legal trouble, SWIM realized that enough was enough. To make a longer story short, SWIM has been clean for about 3 and a half weeks now. SWIM lost many family members and friends to the cocaine, but SWIM is just thankful he was able to keep himself out of prison, and a possible OD. SWIM warns new users of the evils of addiction. SWIY doesn't think it can happen to them, but it will just creep up on you with no warning. That's what SWIM though, it couldn't happen to SWIM, but it did. And SWIM lost many things he loved and will never get back to his mistake.

Re: How did SWIY quit cocaine?
SWIM was spending his work checks before he had them, easily losing 1200-2000 USD a month up his nose or in a pipe. What's crazy, is that he did not think that he actually had a problem. When he finally quit denying that he had a MAJOR problem with cocaine, he did the following things:
1) Denied a ton of so called friends(other users) and dealers entry into his daily life. Sadly, we are often perceived by the company we keep and peer pressure is a motherfucker(what fucking sheep we tend to be as humans ). When he says he denied other users...he meant users of all drugs, not just cocaine.2) Started taking up activities that he had previously enjoyed everyday. Writing, jogging, and getting outside instead of being locked up in his house with a pipe glued to his lips or a straw in his nose. 3) Started a healthy eating habit and exercise program(which he still slips from now and then ).4) Relocated. Relocation is not always the answer. As many know the old saying goes, "No matter where you go, there you are". This basically means that if you are an addict and are wanting to score...you will score. Actually, in SWIM's case relocation did help, he was able to erase all triggers by moving to a totally new area of the country where life as he knew it is completely different. Yes, he has seen cocaine where he now resides(and he even slipped once) but he has stood strong and kept upright. That was the basic program and it worked well(albeit a tad extreme). Honestly, he can't blame anyone else for his failings, these problems were brought on by SWIM and SWIM alone but cutting out certain "influences" from his life did help tremendously. Willpower, it took far too long for SWIM to use it... -Pope Albacore Last edited by Pope Albacore; 19-02-2009 at 16:26. |
