Other - Are Doctors Totally Uneducated About This?

I haven't had any personal experiences with it but actual doctors had told two of my family members really strange things about weed.

One told my mom that one joint is actually about as bad as 17 ciggerettes. I know that has to be BS.

Another told my uncle that many dealers are actually coating marijuana with PCP to get kids addicted...I don't really think PCP is something you can add without anyone noticing, no matter how little they put.

Anyways are doctors just told BS or is this like smear campaigns from the 60's still trapped in some doctors minds?

Cannabis isn't an official medicine yet so many doctors will only go by the same conclusions that anyone who reads the headlines reaches. It isn't entirely accurate to say that a joint is as bad as seventeen cigarettes especially considering the lack of actual cases of smoking-related illnesses in people who smoke cannabis exclusively. Comparing cannabis smokers to cigarette smokers is practically impossible using current methods because of the entirely different patterns of use and legal issues. A regular cannabis smoker may have no more than a bowl or two a day as opposed to someone who would smoke twenty cigarettes over the same course of time.

Although cannabis can be laced with PCP occasionally, I think the extent of this is hugely exaggerated. As you said, even a small presence of PCP is very obvious so anyone who falls into this trap either walks into it or has no understanding of cannabis' regular effects. But who knows? There's a lot of dumb people out there.

Doctors are likely to disseminate exaggerated bullshit when it comes to drugs. I have read of a case where an innocent marijuana smoker ended up in jail for stabbing someone after smoking a joint of what he thought was just weed but was actually mixed with PCP. It doesn't seem like a lot of people would get addicted to PCP this way since it would be really obvious if the weed was laced. But as Nature Boy said, there are a lot of dumb people out there

For one thing PCP has a strong, notable taste/smell. Anyone who smoked grass would know something was amiss. For another - PCP commands a good price on the market. Far more than pot. What jackass in accounting would put PCP in pot when they'd be losing a substantial amount of money? Lastly - PCP isn't addictive. At least not physically, though some people can get psychologically hooked on a placebo.

The old "more tar then 20 cigarettes" routine is pretty tired. The constituents of pot and tobacco are quite different. There can be no comparison on a scientific scale unless the doctor also believes that sugar is an opiate narcotic like heroin because they are both white powders.

Sounds like Dr. Daffy has been reading old pamphlets from the government. I'd look for a new doctor.

Swim personally thinks that cannabis is far less harmful than tobacco, because tobacco has a lot of different additives that are harmful as hell , not only on your lungs as marijuana is.(if smoking).

They say that because they can't sell you weed, only pills. So they want it to sound like the pills are better.
