Mery Poppyns

Does anybody know of a link between P.L. Travers' character and opiates -other then that some people use its name in referance to morphine?

It dawned on me a while back that there are some links between Mary Poppins and opiates as she comes from the east, gives you acces to wonderous things while keeping you secure, has that name, etc. etc.

I would say this wasn't intentional on P.L. Travers' part, but then again, she wouldn't be the first writer with a fondness for drugs.
