TEK - Making your own Gingko Biloba Extract?!

HI!

I know someone who has a nice Gingko tree in his yard and will be going to university soon. he could have quite a lot organically grown leafs to harvest, but wonders if its worth the hussle..

and if, how should it be done? the substances are in the leafs, right? how strong are "normal" extracts, how strong should they be, would a simple alcohol extraction (similar to the ones used with salvia) and then putting it into capsules work?

any opinions about this? if its a plan, swim would provide a complete tek with pics after trying whatever he will try and finding out the good methods, but he needs places to start and also .. is gingko really working well as a nootropic? it would also be fun, kinda, to make these things, but if it useless in the firstplace, no need to bother

Swim doesn't know how this substances is extracted exactly, however he does know that a lot of alkaloids can be extracted by simply making a tea out of the picked foliage. Swim would look into this first, but if it's an actual solution could save swiy a lot of trouble. Hope this helps.

well the problem is tat ginko is really awful tasting so SWIM wants to make an extract that he might be able to put in capsules... he thought about alcohol extact .. but isnt sure and also has never tried ginko himself.. he would just try it like that since he has a hughe ginko tree in his yard

Well in that case swim would recommend going to the health food store and getting some ginko capsules. That would be a minimum investment and at the same time you will know for sure how well ginko effects your mental abilities. If you like it then you could easily go for the extraction or just keep buying the capsules as they're really not that expensive...
