Ever tried Propylhexedrine (Benzedrex)?

SWIM doesn't quite remember how he heard of this, but sometime today SWIM discovered this OTC drug while surfing the internet. SWIM read a couple reports on erowid and that's all he needed. He ran up to the local CVS and pocketed one tube of Benzedrex. He also bought a pack of smokes and another tube of Benzedrex.

SWIM's research proved that Propylhexedrine is similar to amphetamines, like adderall, and produces a "euphoria". SWIM used to be a fiend for adderall. He no longer abuses adderall, he only does it when he has a lot of work to do because it makes him work extra hard and love every bit of it. But SWIM had just smoked the rest of his chronic and kief, so he was excited about getting high, especially on a new drug. Benzedrex comes in a small tube where you are supposed to breathe in this chemical from a cotton rod in the middle of the inhaling unit. Each cotton rod contains approximately 250mg of Propylhexedrine. SWIM broke open one tube and cut the cotton into about 6 different pieces. When swallowing these, he gagged a few times because of the taste (sort of menthol, sort of lavender... not good at all). So on the other cotton rod, he cut the cotton into smaller pieces and wrapped them with tissue when swallowing them so he couldn't taste them as much. It still tasted pretty bad, but was easier to get down. After they were all down, SWIM waited for the 500mg to kick in. Some erowid reports say it's effective even only at 125mg, so SWIM was anxious to feel the "high".

That was at about 7:30pm. It's 11:45pm now, SWIM is still speeding. SWIM is utterly surprised that an OTC drug can be this powerful. When it first kicked in, SWIM was getting waves of euphoria over the top of his head and body. Sort of like chills, but instead of being uncomfortable they felt really good. Actually, SWIM is still feeling this on the back of his head. SWIM is grinding his teeth right at this moment, which is one of the only downfalls SWIM has noticed.

Overall, Propylhexedrine is very similar to adderall, but it's more euphoric and less manic. SWIM is glad he tried this drug, he just hopes he won't be up all night like with adderall. But either way, this drug is definitely worth a try. How many other swimmers have tried this and with what results?

EDIT: Forgot to add, SWIM was on his back patio for a few hours playing the banjo and talking to his neighbors. When he finally stood up and walked to his computer, he got a rush of blood to his head and everything went black for a few seconds. This is not uncommon, but at the same time that was happening, SWIM's extremities felt extremely tired. He feels fine now, but it was sort of strange that a stimulant had made him feel worn out like that.

I read SWIY's post in the "sex on amphetamine" thread, where you describe how SWIY can have sex all day on amphetamine, and when the orgasm eventually happens it's even better than usual. (Common effects reported by many for that drug.)

Does SWIY think that propylhexedrine could have similar effects for sex?

Very much so. It was much easier to get it up and although prolonged, the orgasm was better than I would usually expect on adderall or something similar.

SWIM really enjoys propylhexedrine. Whenever adderall or dexedrine isn't readily available these inhalers are a great/cheap substitute for SWIM.

He has a similar method and just wads up the cotton and wraps it in a sheet or two of toilet paper and swallows it (chasing it with water/coffee). The only bad things about it are the lavender burps (ewww) and supposedly it's pretty harsh on your stomach so SWIM takes a few tums with it as well. SWIM has even gone so far as to stock up on a little of these tubes for if/when it becomes a scheduled substance.

SWIM hasn't bothered attempting to extract it as of yet though but he imagines that should remove those nasty burps.

It's supposed to be used to relief nasal congestion.

swims had "plenty of sex" on benzedrex (propylhexadrine)..... and effects include prolonged erection and complications with ejaculation/climax.... not difficulties..... just kinds(sorta) harder to cum....AKA blow a load!!... just seems like swim has more control..... LOL...IDK.... but errrr thing else seems to be 5STAR....

swim has been using those benzedrex inhalers, extractions and cotton rod ingestion. and recently swim has developed an issue with cotton rod ingestion. the menthol/lavender smell/fumes and i stress fumes.. has ended up with EXTREME nausea. all it takes is a slight whiff of the fumes and swim IMMEDIATELY has severe nausea. even within a few feet of an empty benzedrex container... swim wonders if this has happened to any1 else?

SWIM has actually tried propylhexedrine since that question was posted, and his opinion is that it's no good for sex. It takes too much effort to concentrate on sex, whereas with amphetamine that's all he wants to think about and do.

He had 8 of the inhalers and tried it 2 or 3 times, and then threw the rest of them away.

SWIM hasn't used Benzedrex since the last post, but he remembers after he ingested all the cotton, the smell of lavender made him nauesous. Especially when he would burp, all he would taste and smell was lavender/menthol.

this was used back in the 30's or so, nicknamed poppin' bennies. Surprised they never changed the ingredients. But swim has ventured with this. Went on a nasty week binge with it. Borderline addiction. A cheap (free if you don't get caught) effective high, what else could you ask for? the only reason swim stopped is because it had his heart going much faster and harder than aderall. But it was fun while it lasted.

Wow theres a blast from the past. Swim used to do these on his way to school, smash the plastic case and jam up the cotton wool type tube and swallow, many days never got as far as school and the taste and burping was foul. As far as swim knows these where removed from counter sales in the late 70's. Sketchy comedown but then swim had nembutal to help with that.

Propylhexedrine (Benzedrex) is NOT the same thing that was in inhalers in the 40's through '60s...that was BenzeDRINE, commonly known as amphetamine. They replaced it with propyl and changed the brand name from "Benzedrine" to "Benzedrex" once cases of addiction, abuse, and adverse health events started to surface. People would soak the "Bennies" in coffee to get an amphetamine buzz much like they still do today with the Benzedrex cottons (except now people foolishly insist on EATING THE COTTON when it can easily be extracted by soaking in water/lemon or some other acidic beverage).

The active ingredient in today's Benzedrex has been replaced and re-introduced several times since then. Today it's considered a low priority for abuse potential by the DEA.

Yes but it's a pain. According to niacaine the boards former king of ppx it takes 7 huge drawls on one just to feel anything (~25mg) really it's best to abuse by eating the cotton or extracting ppx

Is it really safe to eat the cotton swab? Swim has also taken 0.5 a mg of xanax orally and 0.05 a mg of xanax through the nostral would this be dangerous to mix with the Dex?

SWIM takes propyl quite often, but not in the way that most other people do.

1st of all, she doesn't eat the cotton, opting instead for a simple lemon juice/water soak, which is very effective. That eliminates one of the major risks of the drug--swallowing cotton, which can cause bowel obstruction, intense pain, and other unpleasant effects.

2nd, she only takes tiny sips of the propyl solution at a time instead of eating one, two, or even three inhalers' worth at a time. One inhaler can last her over a week and provides a pleasant boost in energy, confidence, and well-being instead of the throbbing headaches, intense nausea, and racing heartbeat reported by users who take too much. (PLEASE NOTE THAT PROPYLHEXEDRINE WAS ONCE PRESCRIBED AS A WEIGHT-LOSS AIDE IN EUROPE, BUT IN DOSES NOT EXCEEDING 25 mg! ONE INHALER CONTAINS 250 mg!) That can't be safe.

Finally, SWIM makes sure not to use propyl with other stimulants, even ones like caffeine, pseudephed, or nicotine. In addition to being a stimulant, propylhex is a potent vasoconstrictor, often raising blood pressure by factors of 20+, so adding even one more so-called "safe" stimulant could cause a stroke, heart attack, or aneurysm in someone prone to them (or not).

The bottom line is that the effects of propyl aren't well known, especially when ingested orally instead of taken as directed. One inhaler's worth is very likely an overdose, with anything more than that being extremely dangerous. Even if you've never had a bad experience from 250+ mg. of propyl, please consider lowering your dose so you don't harm yourself.

(Sorry so preachy, but I see so many reports of people taking one or more inhalers like it's nothing, apparently forgetting that one inhaler is meant to be inhaled in microgram doses and should last a month or more. Safety first, kiddos! )

What would SWIY say the mg's of propyl are to a decent adderall dose? He was just reading that it causes pupil dilation on wiki, is that common or just "possible"?

to each his own and swim would never say that no one should try something new, but he has to say that speed has never been the same for him since benzedrex, now it always makes him nauseous. user beware, it can have some really shitty side effects, but it does feel rather good if your lucky and don't get them.
