This thread is old but the OP has a very valid question "What is the difference between pharmaceutical cocaine versus street coke"?

There is a very big difference actually. Street coke is usually manufactured using "quick and dity" methods that place emphasis on quantity rather than quality and therefore have alkaloid proportions that existed in the original coca leaves. Mainly cocamine and hygrines. This is what is referred to a mixed cocaine and has the mellow high that most coke users are used to. Pharmaceutical grade cocaine is refined for its anesthetic properties and many of the alkaloids are eliminated, this type of coke gives users a speedy but clear high.

Cocaine has many uses, but it's most popular one in modern day medicine is it's use as a topical local anasthetic. Or so I am told by my friend the surgeon.

A friend of mine had some minor eye surgery done and they used cocaine to constrict the blood vessels to limit/eliminate bleeding. I saw her the same day and she said she felt kind of twitchy and her one pupil was very dilated. Also apparently Led Zeppelin once went to a party of a rich pharmaceutical company heir and he had large amounts of powdered pharmaceutical cocaine. So I'm sure if you had the right connections you could get your hands on it, but it would be unlikely unless you were either: a gangster, someone who was very high up / owned a pharmaceuticals company which produced cocaine hcl.

Pharmaceutical grade Cocaine does exist. As CaptainDex said, if you have the right connections you can get it. A friend of mine knows of such a connection and has tested it. He said a line the size of his thumb nail but him in a giant web of euphoria and energy.


But I do not agree with CaptainDex in saying only a gangster, someone high up, or someone who owned a pharmaceutical company could get it in pharmaceutical grade. My friend is just an average joe with a good amount of money and resources. That's all you really need. You don't need to be "tuff" or well known to get pure forms of any drug, you just have to know where to look, who to ask and have the money to back up your purchases.

Once had a rehab councilor, who was much of a yuppie, tell me he used to get medical cocaine back in the 80's. He said it was pink and blue and what not. Maybe he was full of shit, maybe not.
