Electric Kool-Aid
so, SWIM has a fairly secluded camp on a lake, and is planning a small gathering of friends for a psychedelic experience. SWIM wants to make Electric Kool-Aid. But alas, he/she doesn't know how to go about making it! :[
If any swimmers could let SWIM know how he/she could make this happen, it would be greatly appreciated. (before anyone posts "UTFSE", there doesn't appear to be any posts covering this topic) thanks! |

Re: Electric Kool-Aid
Electric Kool-Ade infers simply Kool-Ade with LSD25 in it. Usually one would use liquid LSD25 for this and do the math. One of Bongo's pals made Electric Screwdrivers - vodka/orange juice with liquid LSD25 added to it. One could make an Electric Banana if one were so inclined. Etc.

Re: Electric Kool-Aid
Swim has seen this done once, there was 25 ounces of DH2O mixed with cherry kool-aid that had 10 drops of 150 micrograms LSD in it aswell, the lab cats then split the "electric Kool-Aid" by the five participating lab cats (5 oz each making for 300 micrograms) the beverage was consumed and good times were had.
Swim suggests that DH2O should be used instead of regular tap water to avoid chlorine from having its way with our lady lucy and that the micture be mixed very well to ensure that the LSD is evenly dispursed, don't want one lucky bastard getting it all now do we? |

Re: Electric Kool-Aid
Electric Kool-Aid was popularized by ken kesey and the merry pranksters. If SWIY wants to have the experience that they made infamous then the dose should be around 400mcg. They made it in such a way, utilizing the liquid form, that 1/4 cup or so was enough to get you completely zonked for about 16 hours. One should be very careful when taking doses of this size; it goes far beyond the recreational level and deep into the more cosmic aspects of the experience. According to Owsley, their chemist, 400mcg was way too much and he himself ended up freaking out at the infamous Muir Beach acid test in 1964. According to Kesey anything less was just messing about.

Re: Electric Kool-Aid
I take everything those guys write with a grain of salt. Just like Leary; all of these guys got a huge head and forgot the true meaning of what they were doing. Personal opinion but as swim has witnessed, use DH2O for the mixture if one feels the need to do so.

Re: Electric Kool-Aid
What guys? It's been reported from every source available that was around at the time that the kool-aid at the acid tests was highly highly potent...a small sip would send you into outer space...that's why they used sake cups. Owsley mixed the stuff himself and I don't see what he would gain by embellishing upon Kesey's preferred dose. The government trained Ken to handle doses upwards of 2,000ug; I guess after a few years of that 120 just doesn't cut it. He wanted to make sure that it rocketed people out real nicce.

Re: Electric Kool-Aid
any of the early 1960-70 LSD users who wrote widely about it. I find it annoying to read these guys acid-soaked thoughts about nothing, Kesey wrote some good stuff but not much of it, I find that whole group to be very boring. not saying that he didn't take large doses, i'm just saying i find their findings to be shallow and played out. in the end the people like that are what led to the illegalization and end to LSD and any of it's therapeutic properties, all for a few guys who thought they ruled the world and ascended to false guru-states.
it's an opinion of mine not likely to change. |

Re: Electric Kool-Aid
Ah, yeah. I know what you mean there for sure. But you gotta admit that they got things good and weird. Even Owsley says that Kesey was playing with forces akin to witchcraft as if it were a game of candyland. They're very deep-rooted heroes for me, though. I think Kesey had a much better idea of how to use it than Leary; Kesey just wanted to have fun and weird everybody out whereas Leary took the sanctus route. But you're right, no matter their approach they both contributed to illegalization.

Re: Electric Kool-Aid
I believe that if there were more minds akin to Huxley then the use of LSD would have been less staggering, but he was one in a million and I truly agree with his philosophy on LSD and its use.
