Psychiatry, Psychology and ECT: A Debate/Rant
Relative to depression the entire field of psychiatry is a total humbug. A quackery. They will say that depression has a brain chemical relatioship. Well what fucking rocket scientists! All brain function has a chemical relationship. But that dioes not mean that dysfunctional brain chemistry is the etiology of the problem. Virtually all depression has a root cause. And that root cause is situational inputs into the nervous system. Meaning things that has happened to a person.
Now in theroy it would be nice if antidepressents worked but they do not. Yes they can make a person believe that they feel better. But with all of them there is a cost. Uou do not take any drug daily without a cost. And with SSRIs the cost is emmense. Like for example being sexually disabled. Now what the fuck sense does that make? Taking a depressed person and robbing them of their sexual function? And hell even a lot of psychologists are recommending aantidepressents. And many of them see sex at the root of much behavior. What a paradox! I knew a couple that had a traumatic life situation in their family. They saw a psychiatrist. He put them both on Paxil. They lost their sex life. So what was the "doctors" answer? He put them both on Viagra. Antidepressents will also rob pne of their feelings. They many times will not only feel thoughts wich they do not like but lose their ability to enjoy life. To laugh or to feel empathy to others. To experience life. But they will think they feel better but that is because they are less in touch with all of their feelings. They become an unemotional biocomputer simply making decisions on "logic" alone' Without the human factor. And also SSRIs and the drug abuser do not make a good mix. Because since the antidepressent "stabilizes" or floods serotonin the nervous system becomes less emotionally dynamic. It is like flat water. Stagnent flat water. So the person takes a drug to get "high" but it is much harder to do so. To make waves in the water so to speak. So a person may for example increase their alcohol use dramatically. So do antidepressenets have any value. Well possibley under very very limited circumstances. How often ALMOST NEVER. They in fact should be a scheduled drug if they are allowed at all. That would stop physicians from prescribing them haphazzerdly. Yhey would have to keep special records and comply with very limited uses. That would be a start. But the worls would be infinitely better off if they were simply made a schedula 1 drug. With virtually no medical use and a high abuse potential. And they are horribly abused by medicine. And they are addictive. WE get dealt certain cards in life. Some by pothers and some by our selves. These cards make us what we are and how we currently function and feel. You cannot just give an SSRI and reverse that. And it robs our ability to process the feelings. And there may be other causes of depression nwithin the chemical areana. For example nutrition may be very inportant. Body chemistry is based on man many pathways and certain nutrients are needed in these pathways. Inadequate levels of certain nutrients may be a root cause of some if not a lot of depression. We are beginning to see that nutrient deficincies are involved in type 2 diabetes, thyroid problems, cardiovascular disease and hormonal problems in both woman and men. There are strong indications that "toxins" within the diest may contribute to diseases by disabling receptor sites by blocking the access of the correct key. The same well may be true in the brain. And there are a myriad of factors the "mental health professionals" do not even consider in "depression". From the significance of past situations to poor diet, lack of excersize, not enough sunlight, imbalanced lifestyle and more. And of course they will reach for any rope they can to defend their drugs. Like saying "depression" is genetic. Well let's pretend for a second that there may be some truth in that. Then all the more reasons to be looking at the PATHWAYS of chemistry in the body and ways to re-establish chemisrty. But SSRIs are not that. If anything they "treat" a symptom and actually they do not even do that. Because there is no evidence that happy people are walking around flooded to the max with serotonin all thae time. So most of the time "depression" is situational. Things that have happened or are happening. So those things need to be dealt with. Now if a person needs to feel better while they are working on the resolution fine. But the first line of doing that should be. Lifestyle changes, excersize, nutritional supplementation, elimination of receptor blocking toxins and some type of hands on bodywork can help by aligning the body. And lastly if you are considering taking supplements just do not go out and buy a bottle of vitimins. Get them from a whole food source. There are whole food supplementds available with all of the complexes and co factors. Taking cheapo synthetic and sometimes even natural vitimins can mess you up by creating other deficincies. So you do have to be careful. So first line: 1. excersize 2. Diet (what you put in and what you do not put in) 3. Balanced lifestyle on all levels 4, Sunlight 5. Problem resolution by yourself or with help. But finding good help is not easy at all |
