Ambien (Zolpidem)

This drug is a joke. I have incredibly bad sleeping problems and the Dr said this stuff always does the trick...well I just want to say if you want really really bad headaches that make your brain feel like its falling apart inside then go right ahead and take it. Oh yeah, this pill has never had any effect on my insomnia. Any other downers that I should ask my Dr about? Thanks so much

You're exhibiting frustration over your doctor making the
generalization that Ambien will always do the trick, so please don't
make the same mistake by generalizing that Ambien will never do the
trick and dissuading others from using it.

Benzodiazepines!

If Xanax or Valium doesn't get you to sleep, nothing will. But, benzos
are also addictive, so your doc will need to taper you off slowly when
you're done using them (if your doc has experience with benzos, and you
have the self control to only use them for their prescribed purposes,
this shouldn't be too much of an issue). I would resist the urge to
seek benzos outside of a good doctor/patient relationship (ordering
them online from pharmacies), as this could be more likely to lead into
a cycle of addiction.

I used to have the worste insomnia you could imagine. I was perscribed
ambien, oh what little knowledge I had of this drug. First night I was
on my computer this stuffed monkey I have started rubbing his hands
together and grinning his teeth at me, and from then on out he became
my everynight trip buddy. I named him Garth. Here he is:

haha anyway. I tripped REALLY fucking hard everynight for a month. You
remember very little. I have vague memories with garth wrapped around
my neck walking throughout my neighborthood. I talked to a 2-headed
plant person in my house sometimes. My friends would tell me I would
call them saying very strange things. I guess I was telling my best
friend that we were both waiting in line to get on a rollercoaster as
we spoke, like we were really there. Sometimes I would get short
dream/trances where I would be in a deep vivid dream, but also
semi-aware of my surroundings. Very hard to explain. I remember all of
a sudden I was on a pirate ship throwing spears over a wall. I dunno,
it rocked, though. Nothing but good trips. Man.... everynight... I miss
it so much.

It once got to the point where I could control my hallucinations,
literally. Then it just stopped working as good. I could go on and on
about this drug, I LOVE it.

10mg, which I belive is the highest.

You have no idea. Every night was like an Alice in Wonderland experience. It was amazing.

Best drug experience of my life, and I've experimented with quite the
hefty sack of drugs. Plus it's legal and I was perscribed it. It was
too good to be true, damn you tolerance. Oh well, for a month I was in
a demented childrens story book or something.

Try Zopiclon, 7.5 mg.

Way more fun and a better sleeping pill then Ambien in my opinion, ..

At least for me...

I've been getting 10mg ambien pills (30 a month) for about a year now. They generally suck, except for occassional IV use. When I shoot about 20mg I get a wild dissociative-like rush followed by the normal ambien sleepiness. It's actually kind of amusing when I have nothing better to do. A couple times though I found myself having shot over 70mg in a couple hours, and each time I got horrible chills, I felt like I was in a freezer for several hours.

As for NHansen, I think you're either completely full of shit or you're a total pussy. Actually I think you're both. I don't know what kind of fag thinks he talks to two headed plant monsters on 10mg of ambien, or any dose for that matter. You remind me of one of those people that gets sold fake drugs and persists on saying they're fucked up.

I'm going to have to agree with moldie. NHansen, Ambien doesn't cause
you to "trip". I've never heard of anybody hallucinating to the extent
that you are claiming on Ambien. The only time I can see any
hallucinations possible is if you are just so used to taking it to get
to sleep, then suddenly you stop. Then I can see how somebody may get
scared, can't sleep, and then imagine seeing things. I mean think about
it, your so called experience just doesn't make sense. If people had
experiences like that on 10mg of Ambien then I'm guessing it would be a
Schedule I drug, not a legally prescribed medication. Why would doctors
prescribe something that would make you "trip" and "hallucinate" when
you are just trying to get to sleep? Save those stories for story-time,
not when somebody is trying to get real advice on the drug.

Ambien has always worked really well for me and I agree with club222 if ambien were really going to mess you up that much it would probably be a little more controlled but as far as i know its prescribed all the damn time.

hey man, I'm just telling you what happened. It just seems that my body
is very very sensitive to this drug. That was no tall tale, my friend.

Also. Yes, ambien has caused me to "trip." And trip very hard, in fact.

Please don't tell me what this drug can't do when I obviously
experienced a very intense TRIP every night from 10mg. Yes, it was
indeed Ambien, I was perscribed it for sleep by a doctor. You, moldie,
are the pussy. A very misinformed pussy.

And club222, any information is a good form of advice. This is not a
story-time story. This is a real story, which I HAVE EXPERIENCED every
night for a month. "The more you know..."

So next time don't shrug it off as some little story. It is true. There
have been reports of very wild hallucinations, why would you be so
stubborn as to just deny them all? This drug has the potential to make
you trip. Bottom line.

Every bit of information I have written down in this forum is TRUE. This
did indeed happen to me. Next time, don't jump to conclusions just
because YOU don't get anything out of a drug. They do different things
to different people, as any informed person would know. Obviously,
moldie, you have no idea what you're talking about. I'm sorry if ambien
never got you "high". But this drug has had a very profound effect on
me, which is obviously not the normal effect on everyone else.

I just get real pissed off when people like you, moldie and club222,
get frustrated with a drug and claim its crap. You are both
misinformed and have a lack of education on this subject. Read up on the drug before
you post something totally stupid. But I guess that's too late, isn't it?

Also, your logic about me beoing "one of those people that gets sold
fake drugs and persists on saying they're fucked up" is completely
idiotic. I was perscribed this drug NOT KNOWING that it would do this
to me, only to find out, the first night (10mg) that it made me trip
very wonderfully, and hard.

I'm not a big fan of erowid's trip reports. I've read some of the most absurd things the world has to offer on that site. I look at this situation like this, I've seen people smoke "red rock opium" and swear to heaven that they are getting high off of it, and I've also read people on erowid saying the same shit. I think we can all agree that red rock opium is just incense.

In fact I just IV'd 20mg of ambien about 2 hours ago, and other than a brief dissociative feeling I'm just a little drowsy. I've been around countless people who have taken ambien and stayed awake for the duration and never once heard a claim of "im tripping." If anyone does claim they are tripping off their ambien they are not a credible source.

sorry, but you don't sound very convincing in your refutation. not evrone reacts in the same way, but when hundreds of peopel report to have had an effect you little experiment says nothing. i've wittnessed it with5 people more than one time and a positive of5 plus all the reports out there including on this forum outweighs your dissmissiness.

The effects of drugs are extremely
subjective. Some people are extremely sensitive to certain chemicals,
and some people have little to no reaction certain chemicals. While
many reports are likely psychosomatic</span>, many
are legit. So don't just dismiss what people say just because it
differs from your experiences.

I've read some highly entertaining stories about people tripping on
Ambien, from a variety of sources. Most of them are not actual
"trips" per se, rather the person was in a half dream state and was
attempting (but failing miserably) to interact with the real
world. Funny shit.

Edit: back on topic, try taking 3mg of melatonin shortly before bed. Works like magic for my insomniac ass.

psyki, I like your characterization of these claims of people tripping on ambien, I would concede my point if the people claiming to be tripping were in fact really just slipping in and out of conciousness.I deffinately would not call that tripping.

The stories I've read never even mentioned tripping, but I could see
how the entire experience could be "trippy". Most people seem to
have little or no memory of doing the weird things they do and have to
be told by others who saw them.

My favorite story was about this guy who for reasons not even his wife
could ascertain, thought it would be a good idea to bring a box of
cereal and a glass of milk to bed with him. Later he figured he
must have thought he could eat handfuls of cereal and drink the
milk. He woke up the next morning and the bed was covered in
cereal, I guess he wouldn't even let his wife take the box from him!

Moldie, in my opinion, is one example of the three drug advisors in this world.
1.) the kind that makes up idiotic facts and tells some curious person the total crap they just thought up. These are the worst kind I feel because they either do not realize, or do not care, that what they say the kid will most likely take to heart and try. So if they say you can trip off of crumbling up rat poison and snorting it (i have no idea if you can but that sounds very stupid and you would most likely die which is why i made it up) then the child will go home, take out the rat poison, crush it up on the floor. After ODing on it and blacking out the families pet dog will come by and eat the rat poison that is left over or rummage through the box. Then in all the hecticity of whats wrong with the kid no one will notice the poor creature.
2.) They try drugs but it doesnt work for them so they talk about how it is worthless and when a kid asks for advice they say "dont waste your time." This causes the kid to miss out on an opportunity to at least buzz. Which could also speed up the filtering through all other drugs and ending up on crack or meth.
3.) An honest and reliable person who supplies legit. information.

Moldie is a number 2.

I give moldie more credit than that, he's not quite a number 2 (haha). Maybe a little jaded but who isn't?

The bottom line is that Ambien isn't exactly the most recreational
benzo out there but some people get pretty messed up on it nonetheless.

I don't think it makes you trip, just kind of alters your sense of reality, as does just being really tired from not sleeping. Once after I took an Ambien I was walking down the hallway to my room and it seemed like the hallway was just getting longer and it was taking me forever to get there. I'd imagine my body was just so down that I was moving slowly, my eyes and brainwere processing information slowly, and therefore I experienced something trippy.
