What characteristics of poppy pods indicate their quality or potency? Are mammoth/gigantic pods inherently more potent than medium pods or vice versa? Are purple or yellow pods better? Are seeds best left in or taken out of consumable preparations? Does it vary by type of preparation?

SWIM have heard cracks lead to spoilage... are there other features that are best avoided?
