Aprazolam/Sleeping pills with a history of Addiction?
About this time last year (about a month away) I was court ordered to inpatient rehab. Mainly for alcohol and cocaine abuse.
For the most part i've kicked the yola (cane) , although once and a while i will get down on it , but not near as much as before (when i was selling it i would sniff at least a 1-2 grams and sometimes times as much as a ball (ALL TO MY SELF) a night , of some pretty good shit).Which i think has a lot to do with my sleeping problem. Now i have the hardest trouble sleeping. If i do not drink or take drugs (mainly xanax) i will lay down at 1 a.m. and toss and torn until about 6 a.m.. I'm wondering what i can do about this. Straight out of rehab they prescribed me saraqual , the real small peach ones (25mg) , i had some experience in the past with these (100-200 mg) and they pretty much woudl knock me out , blurred vision , werid thoughts , terrifing dreams althought they would knock me out within an hour. After rehab they prescribed me to the peace one (i reckon they are 25mg) , my daily doesage was about 1 a day but many nights i found myself taking two , hence the small doesage. I hated them. Weird , vivid , realistic dreams, ,nightmares etc. I went through about two scripts and decided that's enough. My history- Started smoking/drinking around the age of 12. Experiment with acid around 13. Smoke quite a bit of weed between 13-16. Was drug free for about a year and a half (until i was 19). Did my fare share of acid/cocaine/shrroms around the age of 19-20. When i turned 20 i got hooked on cocaine. I was sniffing approx. between a ball and a quarter a night , which would contine for 2-3 days staight with no sleep. Last year i went to a in patient rehab center for about 10 days. It seemed to work out pretty good but now I'm in the same type of pattern. No more coke but I've been drinking more than I'd like to. I don't like binge drinking although that's usually what my night turns into. To try and slow down on that I've been taking xanax on a regular basis (3-5 times a week) abusing them obviously , anywhere from 8-14mg. The main problem is i cannot sleep if i do not take xanax/klonopin or some kind of sedative/.anti-anxiety. I would love to kick drinking because all it does is make me a rowdy person who wants to fight constantly , unlike xanax/valium/kolopin. Is there any kind of prescription that would help with my anxiety / sleep disorder. I honestly am not too found of drinking , but it helps me sleep. Back when i was like 14-15 marijuana did the trick but not no more. Do physicians prescribe xanax / kolonopin to ex alocholics who have high anxiety? I was prescribed a anti anxiety pill but the after affects made me feel real strange and i decide not to take them. I was also prescribed low dosage of serequal which made fall asleep just fine but have horrible nightmares where i would wake up sweating. Chances are the best advice would to see a physician but so far since they know my past drug history i think xanax is out of the questionl , but i have also heard from recorvery alcoholics that they give the xanax. My main goal is to quit drinking , I've kicked the cocaine habit but it's a bitch tossing and turning for hours not being able to sleep until 6-9 a.m. I was prescribed a anti-anxiety pill but cannot remember the name. I took a few times but the side effects were not worth it. Thanks for any info. I'm gonna see a Dr. which im not too happy about since he will just prob. give me more serequal althought I'm certain i need something for anti-anxiety/sleep th1986 added 23 Minutes and 24 Seconds later... So to trim the post down what do i need to talk to a physician about. I def need anti-anxiety pills. They prescibed m some (i'll search the house and see if there still here , i took the a fee times and hated them.) My drug back ground Obv marijuana since i was like 10. Alcohol @ about 11 Acid @ about 12 Cocaine @ 16 Other script pills. Prob started with xanax at 13. Not addicted just a few from a friend. later became slighty addicted. not an everyday thing but when we decided to get them i wanted 12-15mg for the night (say maybe once-twice a week at most) I really can't say i've been hooked on them for years, it's more of a couple week/monthy think but i ioverdue it , drink and take between 10-15mg. Never big on pain killers althought i've took narco's vics percosets occasionaly but usually only 1-2 mainly when i was feeling sore. Soma's a few times but didn't like the effect. I've mixed drugs (ranging from narcos+xanax to lsd+ mdma , well afaik it was mdma who knows what's in those now , cocaine/oxycottin to come down , and pretty much alcohol and weed with all mixture;.) Never a fan of vicodin although i've prob. took them 5-10 times. I've drank promethazine+codeine syrup a few times and promethzine straight. Soma's. Cocaine , Nitrous , Oxycotin , just about everything besides meth/crack/heroin Should i be honest with pyscitrist about my past drug behavior , because if seeems like everytime i do they give me some shit that doesn't work/make me feel better. And I've cut out a ton of the drugs i have abused in the past (cocaine/oxycotin/alcohol to a certain extent) , i mainly am looking for something that will make me feel good abotu myself + put me to sleep at a regular time , since lately i can't fall asleep until 5-7 a.m. if i am completly sober , and trust i've tried smoking bud since it used to put me to sleep in high school but now-a-days it doesnt do shit. Maybe i should buy over the counter sleeping pills? Nyquil? I don't know , it seems like a waste of money IMO if i could get a script for a nice sedative and pay a lot less cheaper than buying over the counter drugs. +I'm not a fan of drinking syrup so nyquial syrup / any kind of PM syrup is out of the question , and i've also read people who eat 4 tylenol PM's before going to bed. I'm not too fond of that idea either. I'm gonna see a doc/pyschotris soon , any suggestions on what to recomment to them? th1986 added 4 Minutes and 16 Seconds later... funny thing is im typing half wya decent and took over 15mgxanax. im about to get myd rub on. Re: Xanax/Sleeping Pills
Is SWIM new here? First off, everyone on this forum uses SWIM "Someone Who Isn't Me" which is the rule on the forum to protect against self-incrimination.
SWIY just layed out SWIY's whole background and stated that in fact it was you who did all of this, this is dangerous because when dealing with things if they are illegal than SWIY could face serious charges...and that is probably why noone has answered. |

Re: Xanax/Sleeping Pills
It sounds like this person does not need a pharm that is highly addicting like Xanax/Alprazolam or any benzo for that matter. With a drug history like is described it is only asking for problems. Why not a SLEEPING pill since this person has trouble sleeping? Something such as zolpidem, ezopiclone, etc. Much less adicting than a bezno yet it gets the job done.

Re: Xanax/Sleeping Pills
What's the side effects from Ambien and Xanax use? SWIM has heard that stuff like GABA, Valeri root and 5-HTP is safer..

Re: Aprazolam/Sleeping pills with a history of Addiction?
Swim has found his new miracle combo- small amount of benzo (10-20mg diazepam) with 1600mg gabapentin (his tolerance), note that the gpentin increases benzo potency exponentially (makes all of the other remedies, grapefruit juice, etc look like a joke)

Re: Aprazolam/Sleeping pills with a history of Addiction?
Normally benzodiazepines and related drugs will not be prescribed to patients that have a history of drug abuse, especially alcoholism. There are, however, effective alternatives both prescription and OTC that SWIY should be able to obtain.
Clonidine is a very potent prescription sedative. An alpha-2 adrenergic agonist, it effectively inhibits the release of norepinephrine. I was on this medication (Rx) for some time, and found it amazing... nothing knocks you out like Clonidine. The only thing I noticed was a bit of a hangover the next day; it was a bit difficult to wake up in the morning. Diphenhydramine is another effective sedative, that's readily available OTC. It's most commonly sold under the trade name, Benedryl, and is marketed as an antihistamine (although it has several methods of action). I've used this many, many times as a sleep-aid and found it to be my favorite, as there's no hangover the next day. The only contradiction with diphenhydramine is that it cannot be used daily, and is best to not even use regularly. As I just mentioned, Benedryl has other methods of action than just antihistamine.. it also inhibits the reuptake of serotonin. So after taking diphenhydramine daily for an extended period of time, an 'antidepressant' effect can take place.... this is not good.. as it can result in depression and suicidal notions as a side-effect. BTW... what the fuck quack psychiatrist thought it would to good to prescribe Seroquel to a patient suffering from anxiety???? A great amount of individuals with anxiety issues often also suffer from depression, in a cyclical fashion.. idk if this applies to you. Depression + antipsychotics = SEVERE depression, and sometimes suicide. If you do suffer from depression, it's important to make mention of this to your psych, and not to accept antipsychotics as an insomnia treatment. Last edited by Boca Bitch; 29-03-2009 at 08:42. |

Re: Aprazolam/Sleeping pills with a history of Addiction?
Swim is sorry, he has to disagree. He takes clonidine as one of his meds for migraines (he has blood clots in his lungs, thus cannot take typical vasoconstrictive triptans or ergots). He found that it made him tired at first, but then after a few doses, he was just like... "eh, a nap might nice... oh fuck it, i'll go watch tv" or something of the sort. Also as a severe insomniac (due to chest pain from said blood clots), he thinks this is not the med for him.
Benzos are addictive, and SWIM has an addictive personality. However, his docs know this and he is still rx'ed 120-180 Norco (hydrocodone 10/325), 60 Diazepam, 180 Gabapentin 800's, and 60 Adderall (amphetamine salts) 30mg (for purposes of vasoconstriction without the dangerous properties of triptans or ergots). He also gets a variety of sleep aids upon request- Temazepam 30mg, Zolpiem 10mg, or Lorazepam 2mg usually. Swim has pain. He has insomnia. And he has the medical records that prove a long history of daily migraines, MRA scans of head that show enlarged vessels in the (correct me if i'm wrong on the name- Basilar Artery), and more MRA scans on the chest showing Pulmonary Embolism, not to mention his lung function is reduced by 30%. What caused these clots you ask? A PRIOR DRUG OVERDOSE. But SWIM has a need, his records prove it, and his doctors understand that SWIM cannot function without medication. He can call his primary care doctor for more hydrocodone + some tramadol if he needs more than the pain clinic gives him. Need outweighs your history, IMO. Get the help you need, even if it means not mentioning your past history. If you are a SERIOUS insomniac like swim (2, even 3 days without ANY sleep), then to fuck with your personality, you need what works. Thats just my opinion. |
