Feds charge 27 people in ecstasy, pot ring

(07-16) 16:03 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- More than two dozen people have been charged in federal court for allegedly trafficking in ecstasy and marijuana, authorities said today.
Federal prosecutors in San Francisco and Sacramento accused 27 people of conspiring to produce and distribute the two drugs.
The Third Eye Lounge, an Asian restaurant at 1927 International Blvd. in Oakland's Fruitvale district, was among nine locations raided early this morning by local, state and federal law-enforcement officers participating in "Operation Smoking Dragon."
Federal prosecutors said the alleged drug ring involved members of an Asian gang called Hop Sing that has ties to Denver and the Bay Area.
