Opinions - can codeine be iv or im'd?

just out of curiosity, if sum1 was to perofrm a cwe, over and over til basically the solution is clear and free of sediment, could sum1 im or iv the solution obviously if not alot of water is used? i do understand a given amount of water can only dissolve a certain amount of codeine....

Codeine can not be injected in to a vein because a severe histamine reaction can occur, i have heard that it can be injected intramuscularly but unless it is a proper sterile preperation with known concentration then it would be a bad idea to inject it anywhere. Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections of non sterile preparations can pose serious risk of infection.

Intravenous (IV) administration of codeine is not recommended. Use of this route has been associated with severe hypotension, resulting from excessive histamine release. In addition, it has been suggested that codeine may produce a direct depression of myocardial function.

I believe the histamine reaction can occur with other codeine based drugs when used intravenously.

SWIM thinks it could be injected S.C but your CWE will most likely contain paracetamol and caffeine and swim wouldn't inject it.

It CAN be injected, it's just fucking stupid. Very dangerous, this appears all throughout medical literature. Unless Swim was just stoned reading his PDR's.
