TEK - Ridiculous Yields

So swim followed Sphere's tek, as always, for extracting Salvinorin A. Then proceeded to follow redgreenvines's method of dripping it onto rolling papers.

SWIM started the extraction normally; but did it much better, less leaking when transferring the liquids around. SWIM noticed a huge yield right away when he first evaporated the acetone. He got the black wax, but to his amazement, for the first time ever, the black wax scraped off incredibly easy. Didn't even stick to the blade, came right off leaving a clear glass dish. SWIM saw many crystals in this wax.

From 250 grams of leaf, swim did 3 pulls of about 3-4 min.

So several naphtha washes later (swim thinks around 10, to the point where color no longer changed), swim did a purity confirmation check (let it sit in acetone and get all the sediment out.......this was also done at the beginning, according to Sphere's tek).

Here's the weird part.....swim ran out of IPA, and coincidentally, time to do this extraction. So the clean acetone (actually pretty green still), sat in solution in a dark, relatively cool place............for almost 6 MONTHS.

Remarkably, it held pretty well, though the crystals were less visible, swim saw them. Then did about 7 IPA washes.

They are a very light green with a tint of brown (probably sediment....I would have done another purity confirmation step....but..........)

So the yield....from 250 grams of leaf......is 2.5 grams. This is absolutely insane (10mg/g Sal-A in the leaf.......this is just plain wrong).

So swim examined his extract, didn't see many crystals. But swim went ahead with the extraction anyway. Dripped acetone onto rolling papers....put about 240mg over 4 rolling papers (20 doses per paper.......so 3mg per dose).

SWIM has made these before...and even with using 2 of them (supposedly 6mg), his trips were not remarkably powerful. This is why swim thought he was a hardhead.

NOTE: never take this kind of dose unless swim knows for sure that swiy is a hardhead.........6mg is 24 times the threshold dose...and can send probably 90% of salvia users straight into a Level 6 trip.

So swim loads up his normal dose of 2 papers (another note, swim last used salvia...last august....almost a year, the following could be a tolerance thing). Now swim will explain how potent this stuff is. He had a rubberband on his pipe holding in the screen. SWIM inhaled, and exhaled about half of it blowing out the fire.....then deeply inhaled, and held it in for as long as he could.

Swim doesn't remember exhaling, tripped very very very hard, and thought he was going to be in psychosis for the rest of his life (almost dialed 911). When swim finally was able to recognize his room again, someone on AIM asked him "isn't the trip only supposed to be 10 min?" It was only then that swim realized that the trip would eventually end....like all salvia trips and most others. Even though swim is a very experience tripper (and that knowledge guided him out of some severe psychedelic bad trips..........it was useless knowledge during this salvia trip since swim couldn't even control his brain until about 3/4 of the way through it). And also, the intense part of the trip....apparently lasted over 20 minutes, and the very powerful comedown lasted about 40, in which swim was terrified and felt a very strong pulling sensation as if getting ready to be pulled back into the trip.

In other words, the shit worked, and worked very very well.

So, how is this possible? 2.5 grams of insanely potent Sal-A? Enough to turn a hardhead into an average user? This extraction actually, wasn't even close to the purest type of Sal-A swim has extracted/smoked.


As for the trip, swim thinks it has to do with tolerance, or....the effect of "pooling" acetone on the papers, creating hot spots in Sal-A concentration, which could alter the dosage (for all swim knows, swim could have inhaled 9mg). This still does not explain the outrageously high yield, however.

I can't answer any of SWIY's questions, but SWIM has one of his own.

Both of SWIM's significant experiences were very short, but they seemed to last a long time. In SWIY's case the effects lasted a relatively long time, did time seem to last longer or shorter for SWIY?

Before swim actually came back to reality (and stayed there....he managed to come back a few times for a few seconds before being pulled back), it seemed timeless. Like most dissociatives, when swim is "gone," swim has no concept of time...it's as if swim was dead or asleep. In other words, SWIM didn't have the consciousness to asses time.

Actually, during the trip, while not recognizing parts of his room, swim was completely egoless......he only remembered those parts of the trip when he was back in reality.....nothing terrifying there.

My cat says that using in a dark (no light at all) room with no one around and some pleasant music might make the experience better the next time your friend tries it. The experience you're talking about (except for the length) is what my cat always gets with even a quick puff of 15x. He's very sensitive. In his experience salvia is never a good trip unless he does it in this environment.
