Using meth and the birth control pill. Bad idea?

Swim will be trying meth when her boyfriend is out of jail (2 months). She wants to enjoy herself at the fullest. So, knowing that meth makes you horny as fuck -- she wants to take advantage of it and does NOT want to use condoms.

Swim wants to get on birth control (Alesse) so she will not need to worry about getting pregnant. Has anyone ever combined the two? Do you think it will give swim bad side effects?

Meth is usually regarded as dirty because it's made with household chemicals, sometimes the "chemist" <--ha that make it aren't so bright aswell.

Read other threads to find out more info. Stick to topic. And no more smart ass comments about the OP.

As far as Phaze knows meth shouldn't interfere with birth control, he has known many people on birth control sleep with many many people for meth and not get pregnant.

Personally I think the OP should be applauded for at least trying to do the right thing by taking contraception.

Whatever ones personal views on meth it should be recognised that *more* people should be encouraged to put some thought into the consequences of their partying.

Although I, personally, feel that more thought should be put into what STD's may be being passed around by horny meth-heads. Prophylactics do have a use you know.

Don't know about where the OP lives, but where A Certain Mouse lives the incidence of hepatitis in the prison population is pretty high, especially where drugs are an issue.

I'd be more worried about this than any drug interactions - until your monkey knows the boy is clear, use a condom.

Re: Using meth and the birth control pill. Bad idea?

it is a great plan to use birth control if you know you will be using any kind of drug. I am 100% all for that idea & I applaud you.

BUT... it is a REALLY bad idea to use birth control pills and methamphetamine at the same time. I know from personal experience. although the b.c. pill is still effective (no pregnancies, no pregnancy scares or anything), the b.c. pill by itself lowers the level of B-vitamins in your system. these are the ones that keep you sane and happy... that is why many girls who are on the b.c. pill have side effects of depression or anxiety. it is a very common side effect.

most street meth is made using benzene or kerosene, or some benzene-containing product (also goes for some cocaine, heroin, etc). benzene has been found to dramatically reduce the level of niacin (vitamin B3) and iron in a person's system. niacin helps to eliminate toxins from the body - basically, it burns hydrotoxins off through the skin and eliminates through urine.

taking birth control pills and meth at the same time will drop your B-vitamins - especially niacin - down to a dangerously low level. if you are only taking the combination of the two for a little while, like less than two weeks or so, you might be all right, but eventually you might develop a niacin deficiency like I did. niacin deficiency is called pellagra and iron deficiency is called anemia.

pellagra can be reversed by taking simple OTC niacin supplements (slow-release kind are best to avoid a "niacin flush" - hot feeling that almost burns your skin if you take too much niacin at once), but pellagra is rarely diagnosed, because most people have adequate levels of vitamin B.

pellagra symptoms are the 4 D's: diarrhea, dermatitis (skin disorders, esp. photosensitivity), dementia/depression, and death.

if you still want to combine the two, I suggest you take a simple OTC low-dose niacin supplement at the same time - it can't hurt you and may save you a lot of misery. (do not take too much niacin at once, to avoid the "niacin flush" thing - niacin is burned off through the skin and it hurts.) if you know anyone taking meth and birth control... if they seem extremely depressed or paranoid or irrational, especially if they have dark spots like freckles on their cheeks, tell them to start taking niacin right away. I can't stress that enough.

otherwise, if it is just for a week or so that you want to combine b.c. pills with meth, be careful and good luck. it is definitely NOT a good idea to go without birth control, because if you DO get pregnant while on meth, birth defects are extremely likely. make good decisions and good luck!!!
