Is the title a bit misleading?

no they're talking about products derived from coca, which is a very beneficial plant. Coca tea is just one of them.

Ah okay, I thought they were talking about extractions. Hahah, thank you for clearing that up. Thank you for the info aswell, but I was more confused on the usage of derived vs. extracted.

no problem. however they could be talking about extractions, as in coca extracts.
it's important to make it clear that coca is not cocaine. Cocaine is indeed one of the main alkaloids in coca's alkaloid spectrum, yet effects and uses of coca, even of coca extracts are different from those of extracted cocaine.

The Coca plant is used in South America in ever widening areas. I was recently talking to a guy from Brazil. Seems he has family in Western Brazil near Manaus. They have been growing Coca for many years for use in everything from the common Coca tea, to soap and shampoo. They utilize every part of the plant for every/any concoction imaginable. I'd say the way to start any study would be to put on one's boots and grab a plane.

Wow, that really is an eye-opener, especially considering, as Benga pointed out, it goes against the INCB's recent report.
