Purity - Is this GHB safe?

SWIM was unsure about making his own so he bought some through AFOAF and it came in a plastic tub as a white ground up soapy looking solid which he was told to dilute with boiling water and he noticed it was very uncomfortable on his throat, smelled salty/chemically, generally tasted rank, and caused some stomach pain, besides the anticipated positive effects. He decided to test the ph but was only able to obtain litmus test for acid and it appeared to be acidic. He thinks it may contain some unreacted GBL? Is there a simple way to neautralise the solution and make it a bit less harsh?

Well chekcing the ph would help it should be near 7. the salty taste is probbaly becase the formula for gb is na-ghb na beign sodium(salt) and this is very common for ghb to taste salty

SWIM cant get hold of a universal indicator kit immediately, but the litmus test shows it is definitely acidic. wot would happen if he added it to an alkaline liquid such as vegetable juice? Could this solve the problem if he adds just enough so that the ph becomes neutral? Sorry if it doesnt work like that I dont know anythng about chemistry lol

Well jjim, nobody can tell if that NaGHB is safe, that's the trouble with getting it through a third party.

On the basis that it is described as a white, soapy looking powder, then all we can say it that it looks like solid NaGHB, nothing more.

On the basis that he says it smells salty/chemically I would suspect there to be *some* unreacted GBL as the smell should only be salty. But, then again, GBL would not form a solid without having reacted with the NaOH so, unless he has a very wet looking powder, I don't think there could be much unreacted GBL.

But, then again, who's to even say if it is NaGHB or just some unknown sodium salt based substance. Sorry to be so negative, but that is a factor in this situation. You'd only know what's in any street product if you made it yourself.
