what about cocaine and seizures/epilepsy?
swim tried using the search engine with no results. swim is talking about epileptic type seizures that seem to be reporting with cocaine use.
how often does this REALY happen. swim has always heard that even the smallest amount of cocaine can lead to seizures and death. swim also read that an amount even 1/50th of a gram can cause a person to overdose in susceptible individuals. swim read that not taking it seriousely as that sounds over exagerated if not flat out propoganda. however he HAS heard of major seizure risks in coke users even with small amounts although he doesnt have any direct experience with this issue and has never heard of friends or aquaintinces having this problem either. does a person have to have a personal or a family history of epilepsy to be at risk of seizures from cocaine use? |

Re: what about cocaine and seizures/epilepsy?
Seizures can and do happen. They are much more likely with IV use and high doses, however. NIK used to get mini-seizures where he was conscious, but flopping around on the floor with a complete loss of motor control when he would shoot .25 to .4 grams.
One time, NIK shot .5 grams at the end of a session and had a grand mal seizure followed by Cardiac arrest. He was dead on the side of the highway, and revived by CPR until EMTs arrived. There is no history of seizures or epilepsy in his family whatsoever. FC |

Re: what about cocaine and seizures/epilepsy?
SWIM's homie stayed up all night snorting coke, playing foosball, driving around and chillin till the break of dawn. SWIM left his friend because he had to work and needed to catch up on sleep. Later that day SWIM gets a call from X and is told said friend is having a seizure and they are going to take him to the hospital and leave him there. SWIM is freaked and waits for more news. Finally SWIM hears that the friend snapped out of it and was taken home. Upon later discussion SWIM learns that this friend had stayed up 2 days straight and at the end of the coke binge he took a methadone. Cocaine drops the threshold of seizure and anyone will be at greater risk of seizure if sleep is ignored. It can happen to anyone, really!
