Drug info - Blue Mushrooms

swim is planning on getting some shrooms in a few days and tripping with several friends. they will be some sort of psilocybin mushroom, but that is all swim really knows. when talking to his dealer, his dealer said that depending on the quality he can get, he might get a type of shroom that is blue and veiny. does anyone here know what kind of mushroom this would be? to me it just sounds like poisonous mushrooms that wouldnt be used recreationally. especially because when i searched google i couldnt find anything about this type.

if anyone has an answer here that would be greatly appreciated so that i can relay this info back to swim so he can know if this is not safe for him to buy.

smurf knows the shrooms 'bruise' a blue colour. never heard of blue shrooms used for psychedelics maybe he's just talking nonsense or not.

yes that is as close as swim was able to get when searching the net for answers as well. swims dealer did not specify as to whether or not they were bruised, but it sounded from the description that they were just naturally blue.

It likely is a mis-communication with the supplier. Tell SWIM to look at the mushroom. If it has a whitish stem with blue veins running (striations) up and down the stem - this is normal for several Psilocybe Sp. The most commonly encountered one being the Psilocybe Cubensis. The blue coloration is due to enzymatic degradation of the psilocin and is perfectly normal.

This is not a definitive test for Psilocybe Sp. as some people are led to believe. There are several other varieties of mushrooms that bruise blue. These are not encountered on the underground marketplace, however, and are not cause for concern. Unless one is going picking in the wild without actually knowing what they are doing (a recipe for disaster 101). Several of these species are poisonous and would make the misguided picker quite sick.

thank you panthers007, i think you may be right. the dealer most likely said that the veins themselves were blue, not the shroom itself. thanks for the help!

possibility of mold? swim thinks that generally the more white the stems are, the better

Phaze has never seen blue mold.

swim likes to pick off any black or sketchy peices and throw them into the wind... blue is fine, paneolous cyanscenes or whatever, swim had them babies in amsterdam, they turned almost completely blue while drying. strongest mush trip swim ever had, swim would liken it to LSD. but the black/green/anyother funky colour could be bad news. i hate mouldy mushrooms, i bet they contribute to most negative experiences and health issues
