Deer's Tongue as a stimulant?
Swim was reading a topic about dreaming here and came across a post that stated:
Quote:
Does anyone know the active ingredient in this plant? Could it be bought dry or does it need to be fresh. |

Re: Deer's Tongue as a stimulant?
Coumarin is added to tobacco, among many other chemicals, by major cigarette companies. It has been linked to causing nicotine to be harder-hitting, thereby making the cigarettes more addictive. And the withdrawl from cigarettes more intense and emotionally de-stabilizing. There are some reports linking this with higher incidences of cancer. The tobacco companies have done their best to silence the research into this.
Last analysis: If you smoke, watch out with this plant. |

Re: Deer's Tongue as a stimulant?
Coumarin is also a powerful blood thinner and actually used as a rat poison, large enough dose blows out the clotting mechanism and the merest scratch results in bleeding to death. It is the sweet cut grass smell of Sweet Grass, Woodruff, and also shows up in Tonka Bean. The levels in the beans are why they are banned by the FDA as a food additive. I'm not sure about stimulating effects. Just to let you know.
p.s. sweet grass makes a wonderful smoking admixture, nobody can't imagine one could smoke enough to be at risk for a bloody death. Last edited by Potter; 12-07-2008 at 19:08. Reason: clarification |
