creativity?

SWIM was rolling recently in his basement with a few friends. SWIM was experimenting interacting with anything he saw just to see what it was like while rolling. eventually, he picked up his guitar. when he did this, without even thinking, he laid down a simple backing track on his loop pedal and immediately started playing a sick riff/lick over it. surprisingly, it sounded really cool. all of SWIMs friends were telling him how awesome it sounded too.

of course, after the roll, SWIM thought maybe it just sounded good because he was under the influence of E and even shitty piano music played by his other friend (who has never played piano in his life) sounded pretty good. but when SWIM went back and tried playing the same thing while completely sober, it still sounded great.

this is very strange for SWIM, and he is convinced that the E must have inspired a lot of creativity within him, since usually it takes him a long time of fiddling with his guitar to come up with something good, and even when he has a good idea, it generally takes him a while to polish it into something worthy of a song.

if SWIM can write an entire musical base for a song completely out of the blue, there must be a lot of creative potential to be unlocked with this amazing drug. does anyone else here know someone who has had a creative spark from E?

Re: creativity?

The main interactions SWIM conducts while on E are meeting chicks and dancing
E has a very positive effect on both and he becomes very creative in both fields. The good thing is, SWIM remembers his rolls so he has a learning effect and can later apply some of the creativity when sober.
Cheers

Re: creativity?

When SWIM takes MDMA, he does get somewhat creative, and many thoughts often pop-up into his mind, but his concentration span is of such short notice that he just can't carry out any of the plans that pop up into his mind. The same has often happened with amphetamine.

Re: creativity?

SWIM at first did not know what people were referring to when describing the feeling on E as rolling. SWIM later realized it is the creativity mixed with the energy. SWIM gets all these creative thoughts and notions but will change activities very quickly and is easily destracted. Thus rolling through the night. Rather frustating acctually but I guess the profound happiness makes you not care everything is fine with SWIM on E.

Re: creativity?

One could also conclude that SWIM would have picked up his guitar, without any MDMA on board, and found the same riff and found it sounded pretty cool. Read: There can be no formal conclusion linking MDMA to his discovery.

Re: creativity?

one could come to that conclusion, but swim spends many hours playing his guitar all the time, and very rarely does he come up with anything he thinks is worth saving. of course he always had the potential to come up with good riffs, but it seems likely that something about the drug "unlocked" some sort of inspiration within him much more quickly than he could have unlocked it himself without the aid of the wonderful drug.

One could also come to the conclusion: chemical haze up in your gaze. And therefore we will never know

I think this is it exactly with the exception of the last part. Swiy shouldnt limit himself to the drug unlocking the creativity, it can be unlocked in many ways. I sometimes find that when I'm playing my bass or guitar that it takes me forever to come up with a riff or something that sounds good and I can hardly improvise well at all, when I'm alone at least. One night though I decided to turn the light off in my room and only have my lava lamp on to create a relaxing environment. When I started playing I was hardly thinking about what I was doing at all and it was as if my emotion was just pouring into my hands. The stuff I was coming up with was great and some of my best stuff is from doing this "exercise." It totally makes sense for me because when I'm playing in a normal setting I can get caught up with which frets I'm on and what kind of patterns and scales I'm doing, but when that element was taken away it was just me coming out of the amp. I can see this being the case with swiy, MDMA makes one feel a euphoria in such a way that they are comfortable and just kind of go for it so to say. I'm sure swiy was probably letting go of things that might usually hold him back.

So basically I have no doubt that MDMA can potentially unlock a lot of creativity from the confines of the mental blocks that are sometimes in place. A person shouldnt however limit themselves to thinking they can only achieve this with a drug. The human mind truly is an amazing thing, whether working at its maximum capacity or simply turned on to autopilot

I found this also, so much potential, ideas and energy, but so so little focus on activities and memory, preventing it from ever really being any use for human creativity in its current form. A sneak peak at something special, but always accompanied by a loss of powers and a frustration at the lack of anything concrete (apart from half remembered certainties, how some elements of how serotonin and thought are linked, and sort of how you felt when you were harnessing these divine powers (straight from the heart, always)) If it didn't mash SWIY, a damn sight more of these epiphanies
Also, as tolerance develops, I have found that the quality of this creativity/genius subsides and users become more concerned with their getting fuct (like they can't be assed thinking about it) rather than trying to gain a real understanding into this as yet uncharted territory of the mind, dismissing the wonder and precision they first saw and felt as illusions made by the effects of a powerful drug. (loss of magic)
I'm suprised that no one has ever specifical linked creative minds and exceptional skill to the development of the serotonin (and other neurotransmitter) system. Sadly Mdma only allows you to apply these powers with, it doesn't allow you to develop them for good. Maybe practice with a open and tranquil mind would garner an improved progress.
Panthers007 made a brilliant point on page 2 of returning the magic post, which stretches to creativity (as well as anything) in my view.
