Henbane seeds
before I go any further i'd like to say my lab rat has had a very strong experience with datura seeds, so i would like to think he is fairly prepared for what these things that dish out.
I've been searching around and cant find much on doses for henbane seeds, or even the best method for ingestion, or in fact much at all, other than they are quite similer to datura. Any info people can give would be great

Re: Henbane seeds
SWIM has only ever used henbane seeds by smoking. Crush liberally and add a small amount to a cigarette or joint. SWIY mentioned his lab rat had tested datura seeds before so hopefully the basics are down pat, though I will reiterate that caution is so important. If SWIY were to dose below the necessary level he could always attempt again at a later date; not so should he overdose.
Down to the specifics; Datura has been, in SWIM's experience, far closer to henbane than belladonna or mandrake. The former are both about as close as nightshades ever get to pleasurable though in different manners. SWIM believes the alkaloid balance in henbane appears to favour scopolamine more than the other nightshades (this is purely her subjective opinion, no evidence has been proferred to support this) which results in a more sedating experience than most but perhaps lacking perceptual changes of the same degree as daturas or belladonna. Beyond these minor subjective differences though, a nightshade is a nightshade is a nightshade... as is an anticholinergic toxidrome. Were SWIM in SWIY's place she would be tempted to germinate a number of seeds. They make beautiful bedding plants when in flower, with the purple veining on the petals really bringing out the yellow. The leaves have been used historically as a poultice and also used in brewing beer, just like hops. For a brief disclaimer though, NEVER use a poultice made of nightshades and I strongly advise NOT to drink henbane homebrew. These bits of trivia are only meant for curiosity's sake, SWIM can conceive of no way to estimate the effects of either but would hazard a guess at NOTHIHG GOOD ![]() That said SWIM hopes SWIY steps cautiously and becomes as fond as she of her favourite nightshade. |

Re: Henbane seeds
thanks for the info Erytheia, tell your lab rats thanks from me
![]() And while your talking to your lab rat, if you could pass on these questions i heard my cat mumbling the other day; he's looking for the heavy halutionations that he experienced with datura seeds, talking to people that would disapear, incredibly realistic visuals basicaly. In your lab rat's experience, would he say that smoking henbane seeds can bring this about? My cat's heard that they are quite toxic, as are all the nightshades heh, but the seeds moreso than most. Aparently 10 seeds would be enough to do some pretty seriouse damage? Also, when your rat says "a small amount", could he be any more specific, if thats true about the toxicity of the seeds, my cat doesnt really want to be playing around with varying amounts heh |

Re: Henbane seeds
In SWIM's experience, henbane isn't as big on the visual disturbances as either datura or belladonna, though they certainly can crop up. If SWIY is particularly interested in the perceptual then SWIM has found the best way to help them along is to spend time laying in a comfortable position in a darkened room. SWIY should avoid putting on music if it's likely to become distracting. This "pseudo-sensory deprivation" technique has always preceded SWIM's most interesting experiences.
If SWIY finds himself to be not too uncoordinated some very light activity before returning to a comfortable resting position can help to give a flagging experience a little more effect. Please note though that when SWIM says light activity she means as light as a slow walk round a room. Tachycardia and strenuous exertion don't play nicely together ![]() As to what might constitute a small dose for SWIY, I only wish it were possible to guess. The difference between two plants is so vast as to make any hard and fast judgements impossible; and that's even without taking into consideration differences in individual tolerances. I can only say again, be cautious

Re: Henbane seeds
My friend grew henbane for awhile and he agrees with Erytheia about the flowers.
Dried, they make for a pretty nice smoke too. They turn into seed capsules if left on the plant and he will sometimes break one open over a charcoal tablet and inhale the smoke. The effect is hard to describe - no hallucinations though. This is the only nightshade that my friend will use and smoking is the only way he'll use it. |

Re: Henbane seeds
Ahh ok, well it seems then that while they will be added onto my cats list of things to try, they arn't exactly high priority
![]() Cheers to all pets, friends and far off relations for the info
