ROXYCODONE DOSAGES. How much is too much??

Hi I'm new here. I hope I'm in the right spot. I am a chronic pain sufferer and have been on a combination of opiates for about 10 years now. My tolerance is through the roof and I am now taking Roxycodone 30 mg, about 15-20 a day. I was wondering if anyone else takes this much? I feel like I'm skating on really thin ice and the thing is, I can't even feel them! I was hooked on Oxycontin last year (yes, I know they're both oxycodone) and quit cold turkey. I threw up for literally two weeks and was in the worst pain I ever felt. I'm hoping to ween off of the Roxy's this time and go the Subutex route when I decide to quit. In the mean time, does anyone have any suggestions on a pain med combo that I might be able to feel a little? I think because there is absolutely no euphoric effect anymore, I tend to keep taking them thinking that they're not working. I think that I wouldn't take as many if I could "feel them". Any suggestions?

SWIM'S prescribed a combo of fentanyl, methadone, gabapentin & codeine, she gets high if she wants to by increasing the methadone. All addicts can reach a point where they can't get high any more, on any drug.

Swiy's best bet in swim's opinion would be to do what a lot of heroin addicts do. That would be stop using long enough to get your tolerance down. Due to swiy's dosages though, that may be a little difficult. Thing is there is cross-tolerance with opiates. Meaning once your tolerant of say, oxycodone that tolerance will also apply to morphine, codeine, heroin or any other opiate. Therefore its going to be difficult to find a pain med or combo of pain meds that swiy is going to feel.

Swim really sees only two options, take more to compensate for the tolerance or try and get rid of that tolerance so swiy can get high again.

So is the point to get high or to stop your pain? At this point you are fucked.
swim reached this point and used benzos, alcohol and opiates to get high.
Swim does not recommend this a lot of people die this way. It is extremely dangerous.
Your best option is to stop or ween your self down .. consult a doctor.

ctbackpain , what ur having in a day i was once having as my morning dose on top of 40mg methadone....
if u taper down then go the subutex route, ur basically letting ur doctor know that ur hooked and an addict in which case he will give u the subs but i doubt u will ever be given the oxys again should u need them...i would taper down urself as switching to the subs, although last alot longer and make u feel ok,ur still hooked on an opiate, so if ur still gonna be hooked and fine with that ur better off with the short acting roxys and take them as u need as they will be better for short bursts of managing pain....
but if ur looking to get off completely the subs would be better....
swim was on methadone 150mg at one stage, and having 400mgs of oxy via im literally did NOTHING, so usually swim would delay getting his methadone, wait until the early stages of wd then have them, although no euphoria ,made him feel better which the methadone would have done anyways....

to get ur tolerance down, try having one day without anything every 2-3 days and u should notice urself needing less roxy's for the same effect, or having the same amount should result in ur desired effect

Diphenhydramine (the active ingredient in Benadryl) can help to potentiate any opiate's effects. Heroin users are infamous Diphenhydramine junkies because it makes the heroin almost twice as strong--much more sedate--and a good deal of heroin is cut with diphenhydramine according to some people.

I know it sounds silly at first--using something so commonplace, but SWIM has a high tolerance to hydrocodone and he usually takes 100mg of diphenhydramine about an hour before taking the hydro and it boosts the euphoria and sedation greatly. The only risk is that, at high doses, Diphenhydramine is a deliriant and it can make SWIY trip balls in a really uncomfortable/bad way if they take too much. SWIM'd stay in the 100-200mg range.

Also if you have a condition that requires allergy medicine, then I'd say to take it easy on the diphen as well. In the case that they should actually need it, SWIY doesn't want to build up a tolerance to it.

SWIM understands where you're coming from, he has a monster tolerance and often had to take stupidly high amounts of the stuff (to the point of going through a month's prescription in a week) and he honestly wasn't trying to just get as high as he could, but that's how it appeared to others. It seems like with painkillers, you either have the lowest "take one and nod off" tolerance or the highest "take 40 and have no relief" tolerance. It doesn't seem like there's a gray area on this, and most of the people with lower tolerances look down their noses at those with high ones. And doctors specifically seem to have no tolerance for high tolerance.

ctBackpain, Swim was in your shoes a few weeks ago. Swim was prescribed 12 30's/day But Swim would snort 20 of them a day. anywhere from 400 to 700mg's/day. Swim fooled himself into thinking that he would taper down every month, then quit or get on suboxone. Month after month of thinking swim needs to slow down, he did more and more. Finally he went to a suboxone dr. After a day thru hell it then took 6 8mg subs in 8hrs to stop shakin, then 3 per day. It was worth it. You need to be ready. Swim is saying this because it sounds like your ready. Sub's will work at your dose. and trust me bud....swim says you're not alone

100-200mg diphenhydramine is not the best. Swim gets active effects as low as 75mg. Staying at or under 100mg is best unless Swiy knows they have higher threshold for deleriant antihistamines.

What's with all the people with insanely high pain regiments coming on lately? Do we just have a lot of narcs trying to get in or what?

OP, taper usage down. Potentiators or raising doses is not the way to go.

I actually thought that 100mg was the recommended dose by the manufacturer, but it's actually 50mg and that is what SWIM takes. He thought each capsule contained 50mg, but each capsule actually only contained 25mg. Good catch, rat dog.

Diphenhydramine delirium is definitely the worst possible thing one could go through while trying to medicate.

15-20 is rather alot but swim has tried all opiates except heroin and roxycodone
