Post Snot-free cacti without harsh chemials

just in case SWIY wanted to have a cacti extract without crazy chemicals.

all in theory of course:

Make a water extract of SWIyour cactus as in erowid's preparation #5.

take the result (still warm) and put in a blender with one egg white per liter of fluid. Blend until foamy (about ten seconds). heat up to a boil for about 3 minutes, the eggs will have thickened to the point that the water will easily seperate. pour through a permanent coffee filter to get the eggs out. toss the eggs, nothing useful there. dry out SWIyour water with a shallow baking pan and a fan. SWIyou can use gentle heat to speed up the evaporation of the water. After 24 hours-ish SWIyou'll have dried it about as much as it'll dry. It will be very, very sticky.

After all that the product will be perfectly consumeable. If desired it can be cut about in half by soaking the whole thing in some isopropyl alcohol with a warm water bath. some stirring will go a long way here. pour through a paper coffee filter, keep the liquid and dry it out. what remains in the paper filter should be a gray goo, if that goo is brown soak it again in more isopropyl alcohol. The end product is easily scraped up and put into capsules but remains slightly sticky.

With this whole method SWIM produced 2.8 grams out of a 9 inch section of san pedro. he keeps the capsules in the freezer for safe keeping.

Re: Snot-free cacti without harsh chemials

the egg whites trap protein, fats, and fibers very effeciently and quickly. It's not clear precisely what is left behind but SWIM has described it as a highly concentrated extract. the 9 inch san pedro described started out as around 400-500 grams and ended up at 18 grams. after the isopropyl alcohol it was 2.8 grams. so lots and lots of material is removed leaving behind the alkaloids with small amounts of 'something'.
