Pipes - tin/aluminium foil pipe danger?

I've heard from a (mostly) trustworthy source that smoking out of a pipe made from this type of foil will ultimately result in tragic health consequences.

This does not include the general dangers of inhaling heated vapors or smoking per se.

It's purely a matter of the chemistry: wouldn't one need to heat the metal to a much higher temperature than would be produced in smoking? It is my contention that no additional health risks come from a pure, aluminum foil pipe. This does not include coated foil.

Also, it is humbly requested that responses contain the data to back it up. In other words, no hearsay.
