Peyote decaying?

Hey,

What's wrong with this plant? It changed in short time, like it decayed. Here are photos. Too much watering? Too much sun? :|

Re: Peyote decaying?

it may be too much water? is that algae on the soil? i would repot that soil as it looks very poor for a peyote. they should be planted in a more mineral based soil.

it also seems to be growing fairly tall instead of flat, a sign it needs more light

Re: Peyote decaying?

In grandmas experience Peyote develops such calluses over time, grandma generally adds a mix of vermiculite and small crushed stones to the top soil when this happens, whether this is good for it or not she does not know.

Re: Peyote decaying?

its a good thing, but its hard to see the moisture level of the soil below a top dress like that.....its a toss up.

Re: Peyote decaying?

Think a fluorescent grow lite will do the trick, and thanks for the soil mix receipe.
Is it similar to the cacti grow mix found in garden supply stores?

Re: Peyote decaying?

Ok, let's say they go outside the recommended hours each day. How recognizable are certain cacti if it placed in a large container mixed with different cacti?

Re: Peyote decaying?

Ain't too worried about my neighbors, they wouldn't know much about cacti of that nature. A 10" x 24" x 8" planter is awaiting them as we speak.
