Drug info - Changa

Hi All,
Can anyone shed any light on Changa which seems to be rather popular in some circles in dwell on the periphery.

Am interested to see if it's legal over here in UK, what it's components are and it's effects. Any more info would be much appreciated.

Changa is smokeable ayahuasca. It's a mix of extracted DMT and B. caapi. It produces an ayahuasca trip by smoking it instead of taking it orally. It bypasses a lot of the side effects this way.

If ayahuasca is illegal where you are then changa would be illegal too, since its just ayahuasca in smokeable form.

Changa seems pretty interesting to SWIM. Since DMT isn't found in high enough concentrations, people usually infuse dried herbs with dmt. I've heard of people even infusing dmt with salvia divinorum, amongst other herbs (+ MAOIs of course). I also hear that duration is longer, and trip feels more like something in between a smoked dmt and an ayahuasca trip. Some have described it as more "grounded" than a smoked dmt trip. SWIY can smoke it in a water bong or pipe rather than having to vaporize it to.


Just some info I found on the matter. Has anybody experienced this stuff? I think it's become kind of popular in Australia...

It seems that there are various people in a far away country that isn't this one, who SWIM heard from who tried it a few days ago, and say it is rather an interesting journey, sometimes slightly creepy (a Golum-esque personna was mentioned?), and could even be seen to be extremely/incredibly addictive when consumed in small doses - ironically since this thread was posted, some might have found it's way into one of their long lost cousins lap. So it could be more interesting to see what they say about it first hand from SWIM's cousin.
Also someone i over-heard the other day, randomly from a table behind me in McDonald's, mentioned that Brazil seems to be a decent source of production. I might head back for lunch sometime so might see if i can randomly sit next door to them again for an update.

SWIM recently tried Changa at the Boom festival in portugal. He was interested to read the description "slightly creepy" and "Golum-esque" - since these terms resonate with his experience.

The first time he tried it, he took just one toke, and held it in, and felt a little body buzz, a bit like the onset of Salvia, but not very strong - he couldn't sense much visal change. But then, after a minute, he looked at his arms and they seemed to be very veiny and scaly, like an aged wrinkled monster. It was very creepy, though very slight in intensity. And it quickly died down.

The second time, he was in his tent, a red tent, and he took two long tokes and held them in. Suddenly the tent walls sharpened in appearence, and looked wet, like blood; it was pretty creepy - like the game "silent hill" - like a thick static river of blood on the wall, but very sharp. The stitching accross the tent wall suddenly started to look like a little bridge, and SWIM started to perceive tiny beings with big-heads crossing the bridge over the river of blood, but they lost focus quickly and the effect started to wear off. Total time probably about 1 minute. SWIM was also quite high on MDMA at the time, but the experience was distinctly different from MDMA hallucinations.

SWIM would be interested to hear other peoples experiences with this.

i tried changa at boom festival too and loved it !!! want to smoke dmt but here in portugal there is none...
too bad , people would get crazy with this stuff

I smoked Changa at the afterparty of Boom, Utopia.. Liked it a lot !!

I was told:
it is completely legal, and contains 4 normal herbs, which combined give the trip. The also said Changa is family of DMT and Salvia.

My experience:
When I smoked it in the pipe I took like 4 hits untill the pipe was empty, gave away the pipe fast ( because I was expecting a salvia falling down : it tasted like salvia )Then I felt like lying down on the grass in the sun and had great closed eyes visuals where there was some kind of sexy Goddess dancing and doing the hoolahoop in my head.. After 5 minutes or so i opened my eyes and everything around me was beautifully dancing and moving. Nature was beautifull ( offcourse) . It took about 10 minutes before the trip was slowly taking off and i felt stoned for another 30 minutes or so.
Because I never smoked DMT yet, i thought it looked a lot like salvia, only easier to smoke, no laugh attacks and without the falling down.

Does someone have articles or whatever about Changa? because some people here say it is smokeable ayahuasca and filled with dmt, but the people at boom told me the story above..

My typist smoked a joint of the stuff, felt some definite effects (up to about a ++) but nowhere near what he expected a full DMT experience to be like. He describes it as "half an hour of wonk". He appreciates a pipe would have been a more appropriate method of delivery.

It was an interesting smoke nonetheless.

First of all, I am very suprised to see a few people here write that Changa was creepy and Golum-esque. For my partner and I, it has been super fluffy, beautiful super positive experience! Read further:

My fiance and I also tried Changa for the first time at Boom.
On the lookout for DMT, we were introduced to Changa by some very knowledgable, great people.
They told us that it is a mix of natural plants, with the main ingredient being from the acacia tree from Australia. This is apparently the main part of the mix that contains most of the DMT.
With our first smoke, we were nervous and straight. We smoked from a pipe and all we got was a slightly stoned and sleepy feeling.
The following night we were high on lsd, 2cb and ketamine and smoked it again, this time through a bong.
WOW - amazing! The enclosed space we were in turned into a circus! The music that was playing became much louder and enriched and everything got an aztecy geometric pattern to them - it was very cool and amazing. Lasted for 10mins or so. We repeated it and the same results occurred.
We did the following day near the chillout area looking over the lake. We took some K first. I think changa prefers to be outside. It was super beautiful - everything was dancing and twirling, the leaves on the ground were distributed so perfectly... the lake was luminous! My fiance can smoke cones better then I and said that he saw little atecy indian children come all around him and dance!
The next time we did it was in our small enclosed tent
, again we got high on K first (it is just so much easier to get the changa high, on k...). This time, with not much actual visual things around us for the changa to play with, it got a bit more wispy and spirity, and also my body felt very warm and tingly. When i looked at my partner his face was perfect, but in a plastic ken and barbie way, then i looked at my arm and hands and they were totally plastic doll barbie like!

We bought some from the bong shop also and saved it and smoked it last weekend after a big mash up. I introduced it to my friend and she absolutely loved it!
We were in her lounge room and as soon as we smoked it
, her room looked like a set of a seventies TV sitcom or something (something similar to my one and only salvia experience), all the mess, all the bottles on her coffee table were perfectly placed and her hair looked like it extentions, again she and my partner looked very plastic.

Changa, when smoked outside, glorifies nature and really lets go. Inside i have always got a rather plastic/fake visuals trip. So its a naturists drug!

In saying this, i have often been on ketamine before i smoke it. The next time i smoke it, i will report back.

Would a curious wombat use leaves, vine, etc.? Any TEK info available on this? A DMT extraction would probably be necessary. Like SWINEone, my local priestess is also intrigued.
Looks like acacia extract can be used (for DMT), along with the leaves of B. caapi. Probably the wombat would also want some kind of MAOI like a Syrian Rue. Anyone else with extra goodies to throw in should post

I am interested in trying Changa whilst on MDMA. Given that the Changa contains an MAOi, what are the chances of having a bad reaction with the MDMA - i.e serotonin syndrome of any degree?

And just while I'm here - I've also had that momentary "salvia-esque" feeling with it. Is it just the familiar sensation of rapid dissociation? I see that salvia is listed as a possible ingredient, but given the effect I imagine it would need to be fortified leaf, as the amount I smoked was too small for natural leaf to have any real effect. Of course it could be a synergistic effect. But it's definitely there. I also sometimes get a similar feeling with ketamine - that's why I wonder if it's just the dissociative effect.

SWIM guesses that Banisteriopsis Caapi leaves or other MAOI containing Foliage could be infused with an Ether/DMT solution? In this way 1-trip doses could be prepared from MAOI-foliage. Any idea how much Banisteriopsis Caapi leaves to infuse with how much mg's of DMT in solution?

Like 5 Caapi leaves(or it's equivalent in mg's of MAOIs) infused with 20 mgs of DMT?
Or 3 leaves with 10 mgs of DMT? What would be the MAOI and DMT dosages for 1 smokable, breakthrough Changa experience?

Thanks for that Ska. Although considering the amount of Changa I would intend to smoke is very small - say about 1/10 gramme - I would have thought the risk of serious complications would be small. However, I have no idea what MAOis are used and how strong thay are. Better to stay safe than sorry.
