30-45 year old coke users

I was wondering how many people out ther fall into the age group of 35-45. I'm assuming that you use it only recreationally (or there'd be none of you out there). Do you plan to stop at some point? Do you feel that your use has taken any physical toll on your body? How much and how often do you use?

  Good question!

I ask this because I was intrigued by a picture in some tabloid of Jack Nicholson with obvious powder around his noseat the premiere of his lastest film. The magazine made a big joke of it---of course alluding to his use of coke that night.

And Nicholson is how old???

Jack Nicholson is almost 70!

Anytime I look at a celebrity I think to myself,"with all that money that they have I'm sure they've had to have done coke before." But ofcourse they are going to keep it on the dl,nobody wants to be recognized as a coke user.

I thought i was on the older end of the spectrum in this forum until someone else told me different.

I too, fall into this age group, and as far as I'm concerned I don't need the shit.

I figure if I can't find it here (locally) today, tomorow, next month, year, etc., I'll travel to where it's easy to find (maybe once a year; twice if I'm really hard-up) and get my fill..

Hell, I love to travel anyway. I still get excited riding on airplanes. Return trip is nice, but not quite exciting. F**king "Island Boy," so what can you expect?

And I've got responsabilities so I can't afford to go spending a shitload of money on drugs. There's more to life than that.

I might be able to answer that question. My sister, 36, has been a user for 15 years or so. Whith the last year, she used very heavily. She has lost 30 lbs (5'7" and 105 lbs), has dark circles under her eyes, no job, and recently left her husband of 12 years and two kids. She is now clean for 6 months. I did RESEARCH to try to help her...and now I think I am hooked! Damn parents with addictive personalities!

Did you ever think about getting your sister a job at your company? I believe it starts with a steady job first, then everything will fall in place.

Free - I tried...many times. She is very stubborn and thinks it is charity. I think she is on the right path now. She is not really hurting too much for money, and she is clean...but the years have certainly taken a toll on her body and mind. I have seen alot of young people use coke and move on in their mid-late 20s...if you can do that, I think you are in good shape...if you can't...you might end up like my sister.

It seems to me that the physical effects of long term use are controlable by the user. Weight loss, lack of sleep, etc. I don't mean to sound like a know it all, or look down on those who suffer from the effects. I can easily see how coke could take your life apart very quickly, I even failed my first semester of college because i would be up all night, then skip class because I was so hungry from my stomach being empty for so long. But since all that, I have learned a few things that prevent the physical effects, perhaps they can help someone else...

1)I eat a nice meal before starting my fun time, so the hunger doesn't strike later, and I don't lose weight.

2)I don't use coke to keep me up, or help me accomplish things, only recreational when I have the time.

3) I never do coke after staying up more than24 hours. In my experiences thats just bad news....bad comedown, contributes to my regular insomnia, good effects dont last as long

everyone has their own thing, but I highly recommend number 1 for ppl like me who are naturally skinny.

These of course wont put your life back in order, but I think that preventing weight loss and lack of sleep ahead of time has put me back to normal with my lifestyle...money now is a whole nother issue

P.S. beenthroughit refers to my DXM experiences, not coke, im still a newb

Eating and sleeping are the key. beenthroughit is right - eat first. After you are done, drink a few cocktails or beers and take a sleeping pill. Not good sleep...but sleep none the less.

I'm 43 (today - no kidding !), and I feel 90% as good as when I was 25. I rarely drink anymore which has helped, but regular exercise and also paying closeattention to diet, and having moderately lofty goals in life have helped me along......I think....... <IMG style="CURSOR: hand" onclick="AddSmileyIcon('smileys/smiley1.gif')" height=17 alt=[] src= "http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/smileys/smiley1">

I am 38 and have used it, sadly to say, everyday except maybe 4 or 5 days since september last year. People around me are either annoyed by me, envy me, have issues with me or talk shit about me where ever I go. I have become addicted to gambling as well now, more deeper and think about life and reasons why people say or react the way they do. I have no sex-appeal at all and have become a very anti-social person (opposite to what I was before this un-normal amount of usage). I have become very suspicious and now don't trust anyone 100%. Paranoia have had played with me very often. I have the abilty very easy to play mindgames with "simplistic" people (if I can use that word to express what I mean), which I all my life try not to do because I believe it is not a nice feature that I have, but has become more and more an easy way out for me when pressured. I do have a serious problem and every time it's sleep time, which I achieve from all my sleeping tablets I take, I say that (and seriously believe then) no more from tomorrow, or at least cut down on it. I'm now fighting with myself to have at one day off.

All what u read mught sound that i'm a bad junkie-loser that have a miserable and poor life, but I don't. From the outside, if don't know me at all or just a little bit by seeing me out, u couldn't see, feel or know what i'm writing here. I live a kinda normal life in kinda normal society where everyone is doing stuff, but not like me.

Do I wanna stop? Yes, that would be awesome. But I have to say No, i don't and can't see myself stop and never use it for loads of reasons which is (not that i'm enjoying my precious coke anymore)i would miss it, the lifestyle, the procedures and loads of other pathetic reasons. It has become some kind of partner that is always with u and share everything with me.

In other words, simplified, it has become my life. I think I control it, but i'm now realising that it controls me and if im not aware and up for it all day it could break me down, one way or another somehow. It has changed my path dramatically already and it's like i'm playing a mindgame with it. With what?, u might ask? Have i also become a schizophrenia with fighting a mindgame with myself?

I don't know

There are so many factors involved but everyone has listed at least one or more legit opinions. I think once you get over those initial "go all out" urges and binges that we all had at the beginning and then somehow be able to get control and limit when and how often you play, followed by a decent normal diet and some consistent exercise, you can be like Jack and party even at 70. I know he is not 8 balling it, but he is railing when he wants too

I am definetely in the age range, and have been using recreationally for about 16 years. Most of the studies that you read about cokes ill effects really only apply to abusive use. Respect it, use wisely and with common sense and chances are youll never have an issue with it. (Physically and mentally anyway) Some of the tricks that I have learned is always try not to purchase more than you plan on using in 1 day. If you must purchase more, divide it up, and put the rest away. Once you have used the amount that you promised yourself you would use, do not use more. Get up and do something. Dont sit around when you are coming down - I find if its late and I need to sit, I will read a book, or do anything to keep my mind off the drug. After about an hour, I will usually smoke a joint. At this point, the jones tends to be gone

Do not cook up and freebase coke- this is a mentally and physically dangerous thing, and will end up getting the better of you eventually. The high isnt that good, and it goes away quickly, and the jones is hell. I wont go near people that smoke rock in any quantity.

Dont deal coke - Youll have too much available, and you will most likely eventually (probably sooner than later) end up either

A. Becoming mentally addicted (physical addiction to coke has been disproved by many studies, google it to see)

B. Getting busted

C. Getting your place broken into/robbed

D possibly getting beaten to death or beaten so bad that you wish you were dead

So dont deal if your gonna use it. Although the world needs more honest dealers, leave dealing to the dealers

If your personality leans toward obsessive compulsive, behavior or have what some call an "addictive" personality, I would recommend staying away from coke altogether. If you find yourself feeling high just from the anticipation of scoring or find yourself constantly thinking and anticipating the next time youll use, this is a MAJOR warning sign to stay away

I also limit myself to 2 weekends out of the month, and I rarely use both weekends.. many months I dont use at all. I usually will get an 8 ball, and no more. I try to use it until the supply is gone. I dont like having the stuff in my house, and using for multiple days in a row can spell trouble for you

NEVER NEVER NEVER use it at work/school.

Cocaine is not to be taken lightly like smoking pot. You must respect the drug, and understand all the problems that it can and will cause you if you abuse it. Use it responsibly, and even largeoccasional binges arefine - Some people think an 8 ball for one night is excessive, but I ALWAYS share my stash with friends, and once iuts gone its gone period. Dont go get more. Dont even think about it. If I thinkof any other tips that I have picked up for safe use, I will post them. This question is going back to my comments on harm reduction, and the lack of this type of info on the net as it relates to recreational coke usage.. Most of its about opiates and needles and so forth.

I had a couple more dreams on this topic

First of all,in the dream I decided thatas you get older I think alot of the side effects that you experience when youare younger go away. They did for me and several others that I have talked to. For example when I was young and doing things, all desire for food went away. Now that im older, its weird but it sometimes gives me the munchies, nothing like coke and chocolate! It might curb my appetite a bit, butI still get hungry and can eat. I used to not be able to eat in the past even if I tried to force myself. When I was younger and doing it, I would be up all night. Now, I can do all I want, and if its 11pm, I can almost always go to bed at 12 without any chemical assistance and usually fall asleep right away. I no longer get the jaw grinding and locked up jaw. I definetely dont get as "high" as I use to, and I use very infrequently. havent actually purchased any in a long long time - not that it couldnt be gotten in 5 minutes literally.. In fact I can do a huge rail, and walk up to a police officer and ask for directions with confidence that he will have no idea im high.

Funny, as im typing this something dawned on me - Maybe the quality of the stuff I am getting is better... Maybe what I was getting when I was a kid was not just coke, maybe some meth, but crystal was alot more expensive than coke back then. I do know that what I was getting back then was considered the bombDunno if thats the case now cause I dont really talk to anyone that does that.

I am 34 and have been recreational for a few years. The key to doing
this, like everything else is moderation. Just remember that when
it is 4 or 5 in the morning, and you have been partying all night, that
a Tony Montana sized line is not going to get you any higher. It could
be dangerous. By that time of night, you have depleted a good portion
of the dopamine that can be released and you are mostly only
stimulating your heart at that point.

Take it from me, know when to say when and it will all be ok.

Done it now and then over the years. Started binge smoking about a year
ago. Never more then once or twice a month. But it's bad to be thinking
about it, so it's time to quit for awhile. I'm 50, and worry about my
health. I'm an old hippy, and would like to find a new, different high,
but I don't think C is it. Smoked pot for 34 yrs.
