Drug test today.

The threat of a drug test has been looming over Jack's head for over a week now. For a few days there was no mention of said test, so Jack continued to use h, relieved that his mother probably decided not to go through with it.

On Tuesday, Jack's mom said that she made an appointment for Jack to get tested on Wednesday. Jack drank quite a bit of water, but not too much (he didn't want the piss to be completely clear) and used only one bag on Monday. The results should be coming in the mail soon.

What do you think Jack's chances are?

A failed test would probably mean another stint at rehab, something Jack absolutely detests. The 12 steps are a goddamn joke. Anyway, wish him luck.

Well, the good news for Jack is that after 24hrs there is no way to distinguish between diacetylmorphine and morphine. The bad news is that the chances of jack's body being devoid of morphine seem low. He could always tell his mother that he had a nasty migrane, twisted his ankle, etc, and a friend gave him a tab of somesort of painkiller, like an opiod/APAP mix, which he wasn't aware wasn't just APAP. Maybe jack has a diet which is very high in poppyseed muffins?

Maybe jack should be honest and explain to his mother why 12 step is unsuccessful for him?

Anyway, good luck, swim's been there and its about the most goddamned nervewracking thing on earth, in the end jack won't have much power over the results so he should be prepared for the worst, hope for the best.

Thanks for what I consider sound advice, Ontherooftops. Jack might try the 'someone gave him a painkiller' angle, but Jack's mom is an old fashioned Mexican, and I'm not sure that will work.

On a side note, on the day that Jack had the urine screen, he also had a regular meeting with a general physician, and was prescribed a bottle of citalopram (yuck) and clonazepam, which definitely made his day (not that he can remember most of it).

If anyone cares, I'll post the results.

Jack received a call from the lab and the results for the drug test came back negative. I think drinking about six hefty glasses of water helped. That was a close call, I don't think Jack could have handled any more chants of 'the serenity prayer' without losing his sanity.

But I agree, having one's urine examined by medical professionals and waiting for the results has to be one of the most goddamn miserable experiences imaginable--especially since there is usually much at stake e.g., prison, employment, housing, and rehab. I think it's Orwellian to be asked to piss in a cup so that authorities can monitor what you've been up to on your free time.

Be safe all you lab monkeys and swims, and good luck with your drug tests. Water is your friend, as is vitamin B-12.
