This man accidentally mixed alcohol and GHB at a new years eve party when he picked up an unmarked bottle of undiluted GHB and skulled it back to toast in the new year. He immediately realised what had happened and tried unsuccessfully to throw it up before passing out. It is likely that the people he was with did not know he had been drinking alcohol (or did not know the danger of mixing alcohol with GHB) and also did not realise the amount of GHB he had ingested (which as a guesstimate would have been 10 - 20 times the amount required to put him to sleep) because they left him alone to sleep it off.
As a result he stopped breathing and fortunately one of the fellow party goers had the sense to check on him and realising the extent of what was happening, called for medical assistance. Even after many years of rehabilitation it is likely he will never fully recover.
Of course the video only mentions the alcohol briefly, putting the blame almost solely on the GHB which anybody who has researched this substance properly will know is much safer when taken by itself than alcohol is.
