Salvia Experimentation Journal
SWIM is experimenting with Salvia Divinorum and will be using this post to record his progress. SWIM uses no other recreational drugs and does not drink alcohol. SWIM is 34 years old, male, 5'9" tall and weighs 14 stone.
SWIM will try a variety of methods including smoking and chewing quid, SWIM does not intend to use vaporisation at this point due to reading numerous warnings while conducting research. Although each attempt SWIM logs will be at least several hours after the attempt itself, each log will be taken from notes written down immediately after the effects of each attempt have worn off. SWIM invites readers to comment where they see fit, advice or opinion would be very useful. Thank you 02kJU9ii added 3 Minutes and 36 Seconds later... First attempt Date and time: Wednesday 2nd July 1:45am Type: Salvia Divoinorum 5X extract Amount: One quarter of one gram divided into three hits Method: Smoking using a pipe Notes: First hit placed in bowl and lit with a jet lighter. SWIM has never smoked anything from a pipe before so finds the first attempt difficult, SWIM instantly rejects the inhalation and begins coughing. SWIM relights the remaining Salvia and begins to inhale, this second attempt is also difficult and SWIM notes a gagging reflex but manages to resist it. SWIM holds the inhalation in his lungs for 15 seconds before being overcome and exhaling. SWIM empties the pipe and places the second hit in the bowl and lights it. SWIM manages to inhale considerably easier now and holds it in his lungs for 20 seconds before exhaling. SWIM lights the remaining Salvia and inhales holding it in for a further 20 seconds. At this point SWIM begins to perspire excessively on the left side of his face and feels like he is being pulled down to his left. SWIM once again empties the pipe and places the third and final hit in the bowl and lights it. SWIM inhales very deeply this time and continues to inhale while keeping the flame on the Salvia. SWIM feels more comfortable now and holds the smoke in for 35 seconds. SWIM the lights the remaining Salvia and inhales, this time holding it in for 30 seconds. SWIM places the pipe and lighter down and sits motionless. Perspiration has now stopped. SWIM feels light-headed and a little dizzy. SWIM lies down on the bed and instantly feels very heavy, like a weight has been placed on top of him. SWIM attempts small movements, which are laboured and clumsy. SWIM notes continued feelings of light-headedness and the sense that something is about to happen. SWIM then begins to feel restless and slowly attempts to stand. SWIM manages to sit on the edge of the bed but stops there and looks around the room. SWIM notes that he is experiencing no hallucinations or any sense of an altered state but continues to feel light-headed. The effects begin to wear off and have completely worn off by 2:05am; the first experiment has therefore taken 20 minutes from start to finish. Although the effects are now finished SWIM notes a fairly sharp headache on his left temple. SWIM notes that this experiment has had a lot of effect on his left side. Conclusion: SWIM has conducted a great deal of research prior to this first attempt and has read many 'trip reports' from previous users of Salvia Divinorum. Although SWIM is disappointed by the relatively low level of effect he is mindful that many previous users have reported that is can take several attempts for a 'breakthrough' experience and it should also be noted that the experience was not unpleasant. END OF REPORT Next attempt: Wednesday 2nd July evening using quid method. 02kJU9ii added 1395 Minutes and 15 Seconds later... Second attempt Date and time: Wednesday 2nd July 10:30pm Type: Salvia Divinorum dried leaf Amount: 8 grams soaked for 10 minutes and rolled into a quid Method: Chewed Notes: SWIM placed the quid into his mouth and chewed a few times then, as per recommendation, waited 10 seconds and chewed a few more times. The first point to mention is that the taste is very bad, almost unbearable at times. The second point to mention is that it is difficult not to dribble occasionally so one should make sure they have a towel present. SWIM continued to chew with 10-second gaps for 15 minutes without any effect. After 15 minutes SWIM began to feel light-headed, on this occasion there was no perspiration. SWIM continued to chew the quid for a further 15 minutes making a total of 30 minutes chewing before spitting out the quid. By this point SWIM was feeling particularly light-headed. SWIM lay on his bed face up and began to notice sensation was magnified, SWIM could feel his body against the bed very profoundly and every movement was felt strongly. SWIM began to feel very aware of his breathing, particularly his in breath which seemed to continue for an inordinately long period of time so as to give the impression of his body compressing smaller and smaller. This feeling, despite sounding alarming, in fact felt very natural and even comforting as if being cocooned. SWIM did not experience any hallucination during this process however SWIM did begin to see perfectly normal things as being unusual and unnatural. For example, the reflection of a cars lights through the blinds of his window seemed out of place and weird as they moved across the ceiling causing SWIM to fixate on them. Also on two occasions SWIM raised his hands and looked at them and although they looked like two perfectly normal hands, in this state they appeared somehow wrong. Later SWIM began to feel very light and almost weightless, there was a sense that he would levitate if he released the pressure he was placing on the bed with his arms and legs. Later again SWIM noticed he was feeling apprehensive and felt a sense of some impending event, neither good nor bad. It was very similar to the feeling during the first attempt that something was about to happen although more profound. This state continues for about 20 minutes and then a sense of calm envelopes him leading to a general sense of well-being and contentedness. SWIM gets under the covers and gets into the foetal position and closes his eyes, however sleep does not come as SWIM does not feel at all tired. Instead SWIM stays in this position with his eyes closed for over an hour all the while simply feeling serene and content. Eventually the feeling passes and SWIM notices he is feeling alert and refreshed as if waking from a good nights sleep, SWIM now no longer feels any effect from the Salvia except feeling wide awake and alert. The time is 12:45am, the second attempt has therefore lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. It turns out the effects may have lasted considerably longer than SWIM first thought as during the night SWIM experiences two exceptionally vivid lucid dreams, this is in fact the first time SWIM has ever experienced a lucid dream to his knowledge. The first dream is sexual in nature and involves SWIM and an unknown female, as mentioned it is a lucid dream so SWIM is fully aware of the fact that it is a dream and SWIM is completely able to control the events of the dream. The second lucid dream was of flight and was particularly enjoyable; what is, in hindsight, startling about this dream is that as SWIM was flying above buildings and features in the city in which SWIM lives he was able to see in detail what the roofs of those buildings looked like, so much so SWIM is now almost convinced he now knows what they look like even though SWIM has never actually seen them. Both dreams together appear to have lasted almost the full night and in the morning SWIM felt lethargic and tired as if he had not rested at all. Conclusion: SWIM initially felt once again disappointed by the effects of the second attempt at Salvia consumption having encountered no hallucination at all and only minor physical and mental effects although the sense of well being was enjoyable. However, the lucid dreams were powerful and profound and exhilarating. If hypothetically SWIM were to experience these kinds of dreams on every occasion he consumed Salvia he would consider it to be an extremely worthwhile pursuit, but that remains to be seen. Despite the importance of the dreams, SWIM does not yet consider a 'breakthrough' has taken place and will continue his experiment. END OF REPORT Next attempt: Thursday 3rd July evening using quid method plus pipe smoking combined. Last edited by 02kJU9ii; 03-07-2008 at 13:20. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
Swim had a very similar experience when chewing quid style. He didn't do it this way, but the the Mazatecs chew 24 leaves split evenly into 2 quids when they do this after fasting for at least a day. Their leaves are also very large, weighing almost a gram each. They chew the first quib for 15 mintues and then repeat the same with the second one.
Also, when swiy pauses during this period, it is important to get as much leaf as possible inbetween the tounge and the membrane at the bottom of your mouth to absorb the maximum amount of Sal-A. I would also reccomend getting a mini hand bong or a water pipe, the smaller the better. It lets one take more smoke in quicker because the water cools the smoke down. It is a common misconception that it has to be burning hot when it enters your loungs. It just needs to be a certin temp. to combust, but then it will stay active for awhile afterwords. |

Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
Thank you for the advice DividedReality, I will certainly remember the point about the positioning of the leaf in the mouth for next time. I will also get hold of or make a small bong for my fourth attempt, my third attempt was completed last night (quid and pipe combined) and I am just going through my notes now so my report will follow later.
02kJU9ii added 105 Minutes and 1 Seconds later... Third attempt Date and time: Thursday 3rd July 10pm Type: Salvia Divinorum dried leaf plus Salvia Divinorum 5X extract Amount: 6 grams soaked for 10 minutes and rolled into a quid plus one quarter of one gram divided into three hits Method: Chewed and smoked with a pipe Notes: To counter the bad taste of chewed Salvia, SWIM added three teaspoons of honey to water, boiled it and allowed it to cool before soaking the Salvia. Also SWIM is using 6 grams rather than 8 grams so there is less in his mouth thereby reducing dribbling. SWIM also thinks it is better to chew a smaller amount to make mastication easier. SWIM would like to note that the honey did make the taste more bearable, not a great deal but enough to make it worthwhile. Also SWIM found it much easier to chew and hold in 6 grams rather than 8 grams. On this occasion SWIM considers that he is better prepared. The three smoking hits are neatly arranged on folded paper to make adding them to the pipe easier and cleaner. Also SWIM has moved to a back room in the house which is a lot quieter, SWIM is also burning subtle incense and two candles are lit and the lights are off. SWIM is playing Japanese flute music very quietly. The mood is relaxed and SWIM is feeling calm and subdued. SWIM begins to chew the quid, taking two or three chews every 10 seconds. SWIM now knowing what to expect from the process is feeling generally at ease and calm as he continues to chew for 15 minutes. SWIM begins to feel light-headed at this point and continues to chew, SWIM then begins to feel noticeably warmer which is a new experience but a pleasant one. 30 minutes pass and SWIM spits out the quid, still feeling light-headed and warm. SWIM gathers the pipe and adds the first amount of Salvia 5X, SWIM lights it with a jet lighter and begins to inhale slowly. SWIM feels the urge to cough it out but resists and holds it in for 30 seconds. SWIM empties the pipe and adds the second hit again lighting it and drawing it in this time very quickly. SWIM feels like he is going to be sick and notes that he does not enjoy smoking with a pipe at all, however he holds it in for 30 seconds. SWIM finally takes the last hit, lights it and inhales deeply and quickly and holds it in for 30 seconds. SWIM places his pipe to one side and sits back looking into the candle light through squinted eyes. SWIM still feels light-headed and warm but has yet to feel any new sensation. SWIM begins to perspire slightly from the left side of his face but not as much as during the first attempt. SWIM starts to feel restless and he feels the urge to stand up and move around, however he resists and continues sitting and looking into the candlelight. SWIM then closes his eyes and begins to focus on his breathing, noting his in and out breath. So far about 10 minutes has passed since SWIM began to smoke. SWIM feels no other effect and continues to sit and focus on his breath for about 20 minutes achieving a fairly deep state of meditation. SWIM then slowly opens his eyes feeling refreshed and alert. SWIM retires to bed still in experimentation mode because of the lucid dreams he experienced during the second attempt. SWIM falls to sleep fairly easily and wakes the following morning with no recollection of having experienced any dreams at all. SWIM feels like he has slept well and generally feels good. Conclusion: A disappointing third attempt. SWIM did experience a deep meditative state but SWIM has been meditating for over 10 years now and finds achieving these states fairly easy anyway. SWIMs biggest disappointment is the lack of dream recall as he was hoping to experience more lucid dreams. Other than a feeling of light-headedness and a general feeling of well-being there is little else to report about this attempt. END OF REPORT Next attempt: SWIM will take a break and his next attempt will be Saturday 5th July evening using a bong or water pipe as per forum users recommendation.Last edited by 02kJU9ii; 04-07-2008 at 13:28. Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
It seems that SWIY has a similar pattern of use that swim had had when he first started.
The quid did one of three things: made my chin feel like there was ice on it (strange sensation around the 30minute mark), see very faint patterns in the flickers of light under his eyes (coincidentally, swim also sees these very faint patterns after a smoking trip...always at the end), or nothing at all. SWIM also tried smoking leaf. The first time he did it, he felt that he weighed 10,000 pounds, He never had this sensation again. SWIM tried all the meditative steps required to get more out of swim's trips, nothing truly helped. His smoking trips did work, but it was mostly some strange voices in his head, nothing he really wanted. SWIM then concluded that he was a hard-head (swim's friend would be taken to another world by only smoking leaf). So then swim decided to make his own extract....15X. These trips were definitely stronger, but still mostly just voices and feeling of being somewhere else. Then swim bought some professional 25X. Stronger than the 15X, but still not what swim was looking for. SWIM then made the ultimate extract, a piece of paper about 5mmx9mm which packed about 3mg of Sal-A on it (overdose). SWIM would smoke two of these (swim was never a great smoker, so these little papers made sure swim would smoke every last mg of Sal-A). Only then did swim accomplish his first breakthrough. This entire chronology was over the course of maybe a year and a half. Conclusion: In swiy's case, swim thinks that swiy should just use stronger extract. SWIY seems to be doing everything else properly (smoking technique, meditation...etc.). If swiy starts getting into the 30-40-60Xs, then swiy may simply be a hardhead, and may never actually receive a breakthrough trip. But do not be too discouraged if swiy lacks results from leaves and small extracts. SWIM's cousin, of whom I thought was a hardhead because he didn't even have the slightest results from leaves, saw a barn and cows after taking swim's homemade papers. This process to makes these can be found here: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/loc...tid=10&id=1778 Good Luck, Sal-A |

Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
Thanks for your post, it was an interesting read. SWIM still has a quantity of dried leaf and 5X extract so will go through that first. SWIM will use a bong for the extract tonight, and seeing as SWIMs most interesting experiences were with quidding alone SWIM will do that again tomorrow and see what happens.
SWIM still has about 50g of dried leaf; if anyone has a method for making that into extract SWIM would appreciate it. After SWIM has consumed all his remaining Salvia he will then buy some 20X and try that. SWIM has all but decided against using tincture because of the many negative reviews he has read. Thanks for the link as well, that looks interesting but very complex; in SWIYs opinion does he consider it worth the effort to prepare that for the effects SWIY has achieved? Perhaps SWIY could answer that by describing the experience, then SWIM can judge for himself. Cheers |

Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
SWIM usually smokes 15X salvia in a very small (6") bong.
The combination of the 15x, and the cooling effect of the bong allows the entire dose to be inhaled at once. SWIM has had good experiences with this method every time. It is usually reccomended to inhale the entire dose withing a couple of minutes (easier with extract, escpecially if one is not a smoker). Also, Terence McKenna usually suggests if quidding to do it in complete darkness with about 10 leaves. |

Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
Fourth attempt Date and time: Sunday 6th July 9pm Type: Salvia Divinorum 5X extract Amount: I had prepared one half of one gram divided into 5 hits. I only used one hit which amounted to one tenth of one gram Method: Smoked through a small bong I had made that afternoon Notes: SWIM is afraid words may not adequately describe what happened to him last night, suffice it to say that suggesting he had a breakthrough would be an understatement. After three previous attempts with very little direct effects SWIM was now not expecting any significant results. Therefore he didn't bother with any real preparation other than preparing the Salvia for smoking so the lights and TV were on when he casually lit the bong at precisely 9:04pm, allowed the chamber to fill with smoke and inhaled sharply only keeping the smoke in for about 10 seconds before exhaling. However SWIM's experience began before he'd even managed to do that. SWIM didn't even manage to inhale all the smoke in the bong and also there was more unlit Salvia in the bowl so in reality the following experiences happened with little more than one 20th of a gram of Salvia 5X. The first thing that happened was SWIM felt the familiar feeling of light-headedness but immediately after that he felt what could only be described as separation, or more accurately severance. This was not a pleasant experience, SWIM felt like he was being ripped out of himself; it was violent and traumatic. After that he distinctly felt severed from all known reality, reality still existed and he was still aware of it but he was no longer a part of it. SWIM was in a state of panic; it felt like when you lose your footing while ice skating; those few awful moments of being utterly out of control before crashing down onto the ice. Sheer panic. SWIM remembers grasping for reality, but by now he was so cut off from it he didn't know what to grasp for. He was being thrown about wildly, glimpsing one reality for a fraction of a second before being thrown onto the next one. Each time SWIM would desperately try to hang on but always lose his grip. Then he had a brief moment of respite, SWIM 'awoke' and found himself outside of his house just standing on the pavement (it was lucky he was fully clothed when he began!). He stood there for a few moments more aware of his existence than ever before, just in awe of himself before suddenly being thrown back into non-reality again being hurled from one reality to the next not knowing which one was his reality. At this point SWIM remembers thinking that he was never coming home, and he thought it in those words, 'Home'. He thought he would be lost forever, or worse he would catch hold of the wrong reality and when he did finally return it would be as someone else entirely. This was one of the worst nightmares SWIM has ever had. Although he was now still being thrown violently from one reality to another he begun to recognise one of the realities as his own, he would see it for the briefest of moments before being thrown to another reality but then he would be thrown back again. Each time SWIM landed on himself he would see himself as he was, he was now back in the house and walking up the stairs towards his bedroom. SWIM would see a glimpse of this, get thrown around some more, then return to himself and see a little bit more of what he was doing. The next time SWIM saw myself he was back in his bedroom sweating profusely all over his body, then the next time he returned he was stripping off all his clothes, then the next time he was laying on his bed naked. SWIM began to fight; he fought so hard to cling to his real reality each time seemingly getting a better grip than the last. Learning a little bit more each time about how to hang on. Eventually he was thrown back to himself once more only this time he grabbed hold of himself and held on like his life depended on it (he actually believed that it did). SWIM didn't let go, he could feel some force trying to drag him away but he held on and eventually he merged back into himself through the left side of his body and there he was, back in reality, lying naked and sweating on the bed feeling light-headed. It was over. SWIM was afraid to move for fear of losing his reality again, he just lay there utterly flabbergasted. He couldn't think properly, he was in shock. As SWIM realised he wasn't going to lose control again he started to look around, he looked to the table on his left and saw the bong still full of smoke! He thought to himself how could the smoke not have dissipated yet so he looked at his clock, it was 9:08pm; this entire experience had lasted no more than 4 minutes! SWIM could barely believe it; it felt like it had lasted for hours. This revelation shook him awake and after getting over the shock of the time this had all taken he began to think about the experience. It was terrifying, and exhilarating, and horrific, and compelling. SWIM began to smile, this big broad smile spread across his face as he realised he had broken through and the effects of Salvia were not the self-perpetuated myth that he was beginning to suspect them to be. SWIM began to wonder what would have happened if he had simply let go instead of desperately trying to cling to reality. Even though Salvia now frightened him, he wanted to go there again. He still does now, and it still scares him. SWIM read someone's experience of Salvia that said it was like the Hellraiser Puzzle Box; people keep coming back for more despite its horrors. That description fits perfectly. Salvia is SWIM’s very own Lament Configuration, it may contain his worst nightmares some of which he has now experienced first hand but he knows he will open that box again. SWIM just has to see how far it goes. Conclusion: SWIM was beginning to think one of three things; he was a hardhead, he was doing it wrong or that the entire Salvia trip was highly exaggerated. SWIM has now seen its potential for himself with the tiniest amount of 5X extract and he feels like his adventure is just beginning. SWIM wants to see how far the rabbit hole goes, he wants to let go of his reality and just see where it takes him instead of fighting back. SWIM has ordered more extract, this time some 20X, and he will see where he goes with that. He is not sure when and how his next experience will be, one side of him wants to go and take it right now but another side needs a break. What SWIM will do though is keep updating this thread and record each experience he has but in the meantime he will take at least a few days away from it as to be honest SWIM is still coming to terms with last nights experience. Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
Excellent! (Great trip report btw).
Congrats on swiy's trip. SWIY is officially another piece of evidence for the reverse-tolerance theory. Disregard everything swim said about needing higher extracts. SWIY is definitely not a hardhead (lucky swiy ).When trying the 20X, be very very careful. SWIY could either have a very similar trip of trying to find reality again (all but two of swim's trips were fairly similar to swiy's, same concept but less violent...swim's breakthrough and his combo with dxm); or....swiy could trip so hard that swiy won't even know what reality is. Dose down first. Good luck, Sal-A |

Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
Well it's been 30 hours since SWIMs report so he thought it would be useful to say a few words now he has had a chance to recuperate. SWIM still feels a sense of excited fear, a bit like the feeling of apprehension one gets when about to take a ride on a rollercoaster one has never been on, only multiplied somewhat. SWIM knows it's irrational, but SWIM is particularly afraid that he might get stuck in that netherworld between realities. Being fully conscious and aware but also being utterly unable to grasp at even the tiniest thread of ones own reality is probably not a good place to find oneself permanently. SWIMs rational logic tells him that this would not happen, but it is still a source of fear considering the taste he had of it two nights ago.
Of course SWIM could simply decide not to go there again, but that is just not going to happen. SWIM will take a break of course, but the fact that he is going there again is as certain to him as death and taxes. SWIM will do things a little differently though, instead of being so rigid in his plans he will just do it as and when he feels comfortable doing it as opposed to setting a date and time in advance. It will be interesting to see what SWIMs next experience is like now he has undoubtedly broken through. Will it be as profound or as shocking? As terrifying or as compelling? Time will tell, but here's hoping! Quote:

Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
Fifth attempt Date and time: Friday 11th July 8pm Type: Salvia Divinorum 5X extract Amount: One tenth of one gram divided into two hits. Method: Bong Notes: This is SWIM's first attempt with a sitter present. SWIM found the process of finding the right sitter problematic; firstly SWIM does not have any friends who take drugs other than alcohol recreationally, although Salvia is an uncontrolled substance where he lives it is still an awkward subject to raise. The second problem is having the confidence that the chosen sitter will not react too much, given SWIM's last experience he considers that someone laughing or freaking out or even just looking worried would be a problem not to mention panicking and calling for assistance. SWIM does eventually choose someone he can trust and approaches him about it, his prospective sitter is surprisingly open about it albeit visibly concerned as he has never even heard of Salvia. However, after talking at length with him about it he agrees and they go through what his role as sitter should be and also detailing SWIM's prior experiences with Salvia. Sitter arrives at SWIM's home at 7:30pm and they go through the process together one last time before SWIM produces the bong and the prepared Salvia. Sitter has a notepad and a stopwatch so he can keep an accurate record of the events, SWIM lights the bong at exactly 8pm and begins to consume the Salvia. As in attempt #4 the effects come on quickly with SWIM feeling as if he is being dragged out of the left side of his body forcibly. SWIM is conscious of falling out of reality, the falling sensation continues and SWIM is aware that his own reality is becoming distant. SWIM is now no longer aware of anything prior, including the fact that a sitter is present. SWIM feels less and less in control and as before attempts to grasp onto reality but also as before he finds this increasingly difficult as he is no longer aware of what reality even is. SWIM will try to explain the next part as best he can but finding the words is difficult. SWIM becomes conscious of his own reality again, including the room he is in and the sitter being present, but at the same time he is also away from reality with no sense of what reality is. It is as if SWIM's psyche has been split in two and both experiences are being played out simultaneously; imagine the TV show '24' with its split screen style, when watching that one can be aware of two or more events happening at the same time, this is the only way SWIM can describe what was happening to him. In one reality SWIM is now suspended, not falling away from or towards anything and not being thrown back and forth between realities as in attempt #4. In his other reality SWIM is in his room with his sitter sitting opposite; SWIM gets up and walks towards the door, his sitter does not move but quietly and gently says, "You would be more comfortable sitting down, why not take a seat and relax." SWIM does this and loses interest in leaving the room. SWIM's 'alternate' reality is still continuing and he is simply suspended in this place that has no tangible sense of reality, unlike in attempt #4 SWIM does not feel panicked or afraid, he just hangs there like a rag doll. SWIM cannot see anything, or hear anything, or feel anything. This is a world without senses but there is conscious thought, SWIM is able to experience it but in no way that he can properly describe. Normally when describing an experience he will relate it to his senses so he will talk about what he saw or heard or felt. SWIM is experiencing this 'alternate' state but he isn't seeing or hearing or feeling anything, he just exists within it. All the while SWIM is perfectly aware of his other reality existing too, but SWIM is simply sitting down gazing around the room with his sitter on the other side of the room occasionally glancing at his stopwatch and making notes. After a while SWIM begins to sweat profusely, it comes on quickly and SWIM begins to feel an overwhelming urge to take his clothes off. He is conscious of his sitter but it's almost as if he has no choice. SWIM begins to disrobe right there in the room until he is eventually sitting in just his underwear, SWIM feels relieved and again notices his sitter writing in his notepad. SWIM says sorry to his sitter and his sitter simply smiles and says it's ok. In his alternate reality SWIM is still just hanging motionless but he thinks he sees light in his peripheral vision, SWIM wants to look towards it but he cannot. Although SWIM cannot see the lights directly he can make them out and they resemble a window on a computer screen with a number of thumbnail images. Each image is moving as if showing a snapshot of something taking place inside each one. SWIM has a sense that he could move towards them if he wanted to and it occurs to SWIM that these may be the realities he was being thrown around in during attempt #4. Bear in mind that this awareness is taking place without the sense of conventional vision; SWIM is not so much seeing this as experiencing it. SWIM's wonders that maybe he could go to the thumbnails and select a reality and then come back to life within it, this instantly frightens SWIM as he considers that he may choose to enter a different reality and then not be able to find his way out. So SWIM stays put and does not move towards the images. As stated, SWIM feels that he could have moved towards these images but as he made no attempt to he cannot say for certain that he could have done. The process of hanging in whatever it is SWIM was hanging in, and also sitting in his room with his sitter seems to last quite a long time but SWIM remembers that his perception of time may be altered, interestingly SWIM thinks about this in his alternate, suspended state and not his real state and even more interestingly as SWIM becomes aware of this in his altered state he does not become aware of it in his real state. It really feels like two completely separate people with nothing in common with each other except that they are both sharing the same 'split screen'. In SWIM's altered state he gets a sense that he is now moving to his right, the lights of the thumbnails still exist but they are now getting further away from him. The lights now fade into the distance and all SWIM is aware of is his quickly accelerating movement. In SWIM's real state he is still just sitting there gazing around the room seemingly oblivious to the rapid movement of his altered state. SWIM's altered state continues to hurtle through space when suddenly it is gone and all that remains is SWIM's real self just sitting there. SWIM now feels awake and aware of everything around him, he has woken up it seems. His sitter can see this change and begins to talk softly to him just asking him how he's feeling, the sitter brings him a glass of water which SWIM drinks down instantly. SWIM is now properly awake and now comes the business of talking with his sitter about the experience. The very first thing SWIM does is asks how long it has been since he inhaled the Salvia, his sitter tells him it has he stopped the stopwatch when SWIM drank the water and the total time away had been six minutes. Before SWIM begins to describe his experience he thanks his sitter for persuading him to not leave the room and reminds his sitter that last time he ended up outside his house. The sitter then claims to have not persuaded SWIM to stay in the room as SWIM didn't get up from his seat the whole time. SWIM reminds his sitter that SWIM got up and approached the door and told his sitter what he said word for word, "You would be more comfortable sitting down, why not take a seat and relax." His sitter says that this didn't happen and assures SWIM that he didn't move or speak or do anything other than sit there looking around the room. SWIM instantly becomes aware that he is fully clothed, he'd forgotten about stripping off because of the sweating, he asks his sitter about that and his sitter laughs and assures him that SWIM definitely did not strip off! He also says that at no time did SWIM appear to be sweating or even hot or flushed. SWIM looks at his sitter's notes and indeed there is no mention of SWIM either getting up and moving around or taking his clothes off. SWIM is shocked, this was the most 'real' part of the whole experience and he has just discovered that it was totally not as he thought it to be. He begins to wonder about attempt #4 when he got up and walked outside, it was as real to SWIM as sitting here and writing this now is but there is a possibility that it just didn't happen. SWIM is wondering as he writes this that if that wasn't real then how does he know if anything is real. This morning SWIM got up, had a shower and made some breakfast while watching the news about Russia and China vetoing UN sanctions against Zimbabwe. SWIM then made a phone call before coming up here and writing this post. That was as real as attempting to leave his room and his sitter talking him out of it, it was as real as sweating and stripping off. Wow, what a mindfuck. Conclusion: As shocking as it was during attempt #4 to discover how quickly the experience lasted, it was nothing compared to the discovery that his so-called 'real' state wasn't nearly as real as he thought it was. In fact the lines between reality and non-reality were well and truly blurred to the extent that SWIM will now be aware during future attempts that there simply is no 'real' state at all. SWIM now feels comfortable with using a bong as his system of delivery and feels confidant that this method will yield results, SWIM will likely stick to this method and just experiment carefully with higher strengths. SWIM recommends having a sitter present, SWIM doesn't exactly feel it is necessary but finds it added a fascinating perspective to the whole experience. SWIM won't always have a sitter but his sitter has agreed to take part again from time to time. SWIM keeps thinking about what might have happened if he'd approached those thumbnail images, although he couldn't exactly see them as such as just sort of knows that they all represented other worlds or other realities. SWIM wants to go to them, but even though it's irrational he is still scared by the prospect of getting 'stuck'. SWIM will probably feel more comfortable as time goes on. END OF REPORT |

Re: Salvia Experimentation Journal
the first time SWIY broke through reminds SWIM of the first he broke through on Salvia. The sheer panic! Was SWIM going to feel like this forever? SWIM almost a felt a physical pain in his brain, like it being torn into a million pieces from every corner of the universe.
