DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
I haven't come across many users of the drug providing forewarnings, or cautions about potential dangers/bad trip experiences involving this drug.
Can we get some info on what NOT to do, or what helps the trip explode in euphoria?? lots of water? obvious ambient tunes... |

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
Don't drive.
Don't smoke the stuff in front of LEO. Don't put it in your eye. That's about all SWIM has to say. Just be in a safe environment that you are comfortable with. Just be in the right state of mind and do your research before "researching." Just go with the flow really...ride it. |

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
Like raven said all the usual safe tripping rules, and the obvious start low and work your way up. You can always have another stronger experience another time but you wont want to touch the stuff again if your experience is overly intense. In SWIF's personal oppinion you should also try a milder psychedelic like mushrooms prior to using the stronger tryptamines. (P.S. i know mushrooms too can be ridiculously intense but i feel they can make a nice starting block if taking in a lowerdosage)

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
SWIM thinks one should never drive away from the large blue octopus. It will not give chase if you stay very still.
SWIM thinks that DPT is a good one to work up with. Lower doses can be very mellow and recreational, but higher ones can be jaw-droppingly psychedelic. SWIM prefers to smoke it (freebase), but snorting (salt) is tolerable as long as a monkey's nasal lining is not too sensitive. It can also be very stimulating at the higher end of dosing - often uncomfortably so. This is one of SWIM's favorite tryptamines. Last edited by snapper; 14-11-2008 at 01:15. |

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
The "evil or good" aspect of a trip depends so much more on environment than on the substance type. DPT is in SWIFs experience more forgiving than DMT too, that said he has been hurt from this substance in the past. Nothing serious but a little PTSD.

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
Dmt is dimethyltryptamine and dpt is dipropyltryptamine meaning that on dpt where the methyl group is on dmt is replaced with propyl's (2 new carbons and 4 more hydrogens on each side of the carbon chain). this small addition to the methyl groups leads to its different effects than dmt because it is metabolized differently by the body.

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
DMT - short duration of action, not orally available by itself, very visual, ego loss, machine elves.
DPT - longer duration of action, about 1/5th as potent orally, very visual but not as much as DMT, much stronger body load / stimulation which can limit pushing the dose higher, but not particularly 'dark'. much more difficult to get to the 'ego loss' and complete dissociation. It is much easier to function around / interact with other people with DPT. |

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
SWIF found the DPT experience best insufflated once the original smell has passed.

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
SWIM found insufflated DPT to be excrutiating and a pain that lasted so long it had a negative impact on the trip.
SWIM's advice is to plug 200mg. SWIY will be in for the best ride of his life. Truly amazing compound. Hands down the best synthetic Tryptamine. |

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
SWIY found insufflation painful? SWIF found it unpleasant because of the numbing effect and the horrid smell but it didnt hurt...

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
SWIM found it unbearable. I think it might have been because the inside of SWIM nose at that time was already slightly damaged from a heavy K binge the night before. However, plugging it produces a better effect all round in SWIM's opinion, so he can't be bothered with railing it anymore.

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
Would you say in terms of dosage it's similar in effect and response curve to insufflated since SWIY has experienced both.

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
Yes, identical in effects, but faster, shorter lasting and more intense
That's what he told me anyway...

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
Note that 200 mg is a large dose. SWIY might want to start lower. SWIM found DPT to not be very bad insufflated. Really just a bitter drip and a bit of burning but even meth was worse, not to mention any of the PEAs. 50 mg is a good insufflated dose to start for SWIM, with 25 mg bumps as needed. Too much and SWIM just ends up swallowing it. Spacing out the bumps gives the dpt a chance to soak in.

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
SWIF has done from 40mg up to 180mg insufflated, and found all experiences above 120 to be very intense. All depends on the experience one desires. That said in terms of what snapper says above, SWIF found after getting into 20-30 minutes into the experience more DPT would only prolong the experience not make it more intense.

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
I think that mood has a definite sway factor in relation to how your trip goes, especially with higher doses. Normally with other psychedelics I have found that bad things can pass and I can feel normal again.
But make sure that you are emotionally comfotable, not depressed or anxious about work/exams etc. Because you have to really disconnect from reality with this drug and at 100mg insufflated for SWIM, he had a hard time trying to let go as these doubts and anxieties manifested themselves into his trip and wasn't all pleasant. This coupled with that nauseating drip really brought SWIM down. SWIM luckily learnt alot from his trip though, especially about respect towards powerful hallucinogens and treating his psyche nicely. |

Re: DPT Warnings? Do's/Dont's?
SWIM has recently tried DPT for the first time. He only tried one small dose by itself to test substance and effects were pretty mild. Then he tried insufflating a slightly larger amount ~30mg while on a methylone/butylone combo, and also smoked a small amount after a few minutes. SWIM has done a similar combination with methylone and DMT in the past to pretty astounding results: it probably dropped the methylone euphoria slightly but it shot the elusive tryptamine euphoria to a level far beyond anything he had ever experienced before (as well as visuals which were, well, DMT visuals with a twist). A very rewarding experience, and SWIM hoped to achieve something similar with this combination. Instead, the stimulation from the methylone/butylone grew quite uncomfortable, and while SWIM was clearly tripping pretty hard nothing ever gelled.
So I guess I would like to tentatively advise against combining DPT with butylone, although SWIM has heard of several cases of combining DPT with ecstacy with positive results. Also, SWIM was a bit caught off guard by the duration. He knew DPT lasted longer but for some reason he still expected the major effects to last 30 minutes or so and then linger in an afterglow for another couple hours. He's not exactly sure, but he believes that the main effects lasted about an hour and a half. As regards to the pain of insufflating DPT, SWIM did not find it bad at all. The smell/taste was a bit unpleasant but nothing unbearable and the pain was minor. Now, compared to insufflated DMT freebase (regrettably it is beyond SWIM's know how to convert DMT in to a crystalline salt) insufflated DPT is like a massage for your naval cavity.
