Thyroid Condition/disease and drugs.

Hi, I have noticed that on alot of legal highs, salvia, party pills, hbwr seeds ect that the packaging often contains a waring reading "do not mix with other drugs/alcohol, do not take if you have heart or thyroid disease" and so on. I was just wondering why would these drugs be bad to take if you have thyroid problems and how serious are the risks for someone with a thyroid condition when taking these drugs? Thanks.

other drugs --> unknown interactions
alcohol --> lots of things do not mix with alcohol
heart --> lots of drugs can cause heart attacks

The thyroid warning is because your thyroid controls pretty much everything, including the baseline levels of neurotransmitters. If you have a hyperactive thyroid, and your brain already has too much dopamine in it, a small dose of something like cocaine can cause extreme mania. Of course something like cocaine can cause temporary mania anyway, but if your thyroid is already pointing in that direction, the dosage required for that to happen is a lot lower. On the other end of the scale, someone with a hypoactive thyroid is already half-sedated, so they can run into very bad situations if they take a sedative on top of that.
Know how you're not supposed to mix downers like alcohol with benedryl? This is the same thing; don't mix a sedative with a low-functioning thyroid gland.
