alryte people this is swims first post dnt no were 2 start swims been a heavy h user for bout 6 years quit on the subies for bout 8 months got a job moved in2 a good hostel in a diffrent town everything was looking peachy but bout a year ago it all went tits up and i lost everything was living on the streets again and startd using again switchd 2 the methadone and well proper shot meself in the foot.
well now swims finnaly got hes own place is slowly reducing hes meth against the doctors advice and looking for work and thats whats pissing swim off these drug workers are a pile ov wank they seem 2 just want u to stay on a script and u cant reason with them cos they will just boot u of a script and then ure bak 2 square 1. dnt really no why im writing this guess i just wanted a rant cos the drug workers dnt listen and having just found this forum i think it a really good idea for people to be able 2 talk and help each other and reading sum of these posts i feel lyk u guys are doing that

SWIM was first prescribed meth when he was 16, and if any drug should be banned it's that one. SWIY needs to get their point accross to these people. There must be one sensible counselor among them. Isn't it possible to get back on the subutex?

SWIM has been on the other side of the table at the DPS. The service wants to keep SWIY in treatment eg. on his meth script because everytime a person comes out of treatment the relapse rate is so high that they are expecting SWIY to come back knocking on the door looking for help again. This all adds to their waiting lists, administration, costs etc. So it makes more sense to them to hold SWIY on his meth script. Subutex is unfortunetly not offered regularly and is usually only given in cases where they think the person has a high chance of staying clean. For instance - (in their opinion) a mother with a new baby or someone who has not been using for long.
SWIM is not saying that this is always the case but that is how it goes in SWIMs area. SWIM is also not trying to make any judgement on SWIYs chance of staying clean but it sure sounds as though SWIY has had enough of the bad side of life.
They are attempting to keep SWIY from being chaotic by keeping him on his meth. This is the reasoning frustrating as it is. Isint it shite when SWIMs life is in other peoples hands

hi swim has had similar relapse experience ...swim managed to avoid methadone since subutex /suboxone became available in oz..swim has weened off this year using otc codeine.

Keep on at them that SWIY feels methadone isn't right for you if you're going to be working, SWIY may get a better response out of them if you ask for it to be reduced so SWIY can go on Subutex. SWIM'S friends who have been on Subutex have done very well compared to those on methadone when it's comes to relapsing.
SWIY is the patient and even a patient with an addiction has rights.

for swim methadone gives me no hope of getting clean whereas being on sub makes swim feel as though he has made real progress
