Poison Ivy/itch relief
So my cat got stuck in the woods and had to use the little kittens room, by which I mean squatting behind a large bush. And, apparently, there was some urushiol (active ingredient in poison ivy and its cousins) containing plant near by because his entire torso has broken out in a spectacular rash (seriously he must have found the most potent strain in the world).
Contrary to popular belief there are several dozen (maybe more) plants that mimic the effects of poison ivy and some look completely different. So even a amateur botanist like my cat can get sucked in by some plant he doesn't recognize.
But anyways, my cat hasn't slept almost at all in the past 48 hours because the itching is pretty severe. And he got to wondering if there might be some drug/herb that could stop it. There are a couple prescription drugs that should do the trick but unfortunately for my cat he is uninsured for the next couple of weeks. The over-the-counter remedies have all failed him.
So he's turning to his friends at a certain drug forum to suggest remedies. He may not be able to procure the drugs they suggest to him since the rash will be gone in another day or two; but seeing as he can think about nothing else at the moment perhaps he would feel better just to know. Do any common drugs have itch-relieving/anti-allergic/numbing properties?
