Paraphernalia - Homemade crackers

My buddy has some chargers and was curious exactly how a cracker works. From what he understands the charger is held in a some kind of metal/plastic tube snuggly, covered with another piece to seal it air tight and lead the no2 out in a given direction into a balloon but how is the charger "opened". He read they use nails in homemade ones but this seems kind of dangerous combining high pressure and nails. Hes not sure how they are "cracked" either with ones found on ebay and such.

Anyone know someone who tried making their own and could give any advice or blueprints so my buddy could maybe design his own. And would it be better to use brass, copper, pvc etc because of the extreme cold.

They cost about $5 at most smoke shops, definately not worth the effort or cost (and definately not the risk) of building swiy's own.

But one can be made easily, there are two pieces of pipe which screw together, one piece is closed on one end with a tightly sealed screw on cap. The other has cap with a small sturdy pin souldered or otherwise well attached to the inside, and two wholes or sometimes 4 are poked around the pin. A balloon is placed over this end, the cartridge is placed inside your two pieces of pipe and the pieces are screwed together. The pin pokes the cartridge, and the gas fills the balloon.

Since it sounds this might be swiy's first time with this, make sure what your buddy has is not CO2. use a rag when handling a cracker as frostbite can occur in numerous diffrent ways. Make sure whomever is taking the hit is sitting down and can't whack their head on anything, some faint.

My friend thanks you for the advice and it is his first time using chargers (His work uses whipcream dispensers and sometimes he goes to get some chargers and forgets some in his pocket). Hes decided to buy a cracker off some familiar website for about 20$, free shipping, made out of brass if that makes a difference.

When you exhale after taking a hit there is still n2o exhaled correct? So a balloon would be vital? Now would the balloon freeze or is life great.

Life is indeed great, the balloon won't freeze. If SWIY exhales into a balloon after taking a hit SWIY will be able to prolong the buzz.

Swim personally finds that after a while of breathing in and out of the balloon he is only breathing recycled air but still carries on in a vain effort to regain the high.

SWIM has infact found that while using small aluminum crackers (this type dispenses the nitrous particularly quickly) the neck of the balloons can infact completely solidify due to the cold and become frozen to the cracker. SWIM has never experienced this with the cream dispenser type.

Swim uses an "airdr" co2 dispenser to dispense the n2o and every time the neck of the baloon freezes so hard swim thinks the baloon will break.

SWIM used to use a nail, a balloon, and a hammer, back in the day. First time SWIM got the whippits, he was too cheap to get a cracker. Being the industrious MacGuyver that he is, SWIM put a nail in a balloon with the point up, stretched the neck of the balloon around the thick of the whippet, balanced the tip of the cartridge on the point of the nail, and smacked lightly until balloon filled with nitrogen.

Then, SWIM and SWIFs just inhaled slowly as to not have troubles with the nail.
