Hydrocodone and Hearing Loss/Buzz in ears
Swims been taking hydrocodone for about a month and a half now. Most nights when swim lays down swim has a buzz or a weird sensation in swims ears. swims pretty sure its from the pills, but can hydrocodone cause hearing loss, and if so is it over a long period of time or does it matter?

Hmm, there was a study done in Australia, about users, heavy and sustained users of codeine/paracetamol who developed sudden deafness. It happened very fast, and in both ears.

Of all those who got this strange thing, they all had the codeine link in common, but they can't figure it out.

Both these links are actually about hydro, not plain old codeine, so it's even more relevant to you. Be careful!

Maybe it's the increased intracranial pressure, pushing against your cochlear or something.

Swim had hurd of people that have had this happen to them.. But has never seen it..

SWIM took Codeine, Oxycodone, Hydrocode, and tylenol by various routes tonight, and had very similar effect. SWIM can hear things fine but funny feeling, like sometime he is far away or his ears are stopped up. This was SWIM's second experience with opiates.

Pink's hearing gets really muffled. He has a hard time hearing conversations even when the room is quiet and the other person is close to them.

Ain't that just typical? King o' Konsoivatism hooked on sweet sweet opiates!

But seriously, my bet is that high intracranial pressure is pushing on the cochlear. Just a hunch.

Cases of hearing impairment or permanent loss have been reported predominantly in patients with chronic overdose.
