Ok....I know the effects of long-term meth use, and i also know the
effects of heavy, daily meth use. But, if meth use is limited to about
once a week, (for weekend fun or something) then is no damage done?

Well it is going to do damage, but then again what the hell doesn't do
damage to ya these days. I wouldn't be to worried that its gonna kill
your brain afterall doctors perscribe desoxyn to children as young as
three (its a methamphetamine given to narcoleptics and people with
adhd/add). I would be worried if that weekend tweaking starts to creep
into the weekdays...

yea....i'm just worried that one of these days, im gonna do it....and
then the next day, im not gonna remember what my name is.......or not
be able to do simple math or something. If meth does damage to your
brain, like alcohol does damage to your liver, then i suppose
occasional meth is ok.....

Like JasK said, it's definitely not good for you to use meth, but if
you're going to do it anyway, you might as well do it as safely as
possible. If you can honestly keep your usage down to only once
every week or two, I think you would minimize the damage you're going
to do to yourself. I highly doubt you are going to wake up one
day brain dead because you used meth on the weekend.

the thing that is scary about meth is that it never really feels like a
drug in the way heroin, or acid, or pot does, it feels more like a tool
cause it makes your body work at 150% and you are able to function
normally while on it (at least before you get addicted) and you feel
great doing all that monotonous work at home and at your job. You gotta
have a strong will to mess with meth casually.

well, the reason i ask all of this is because, i have been doing meth
about twice a month for about a year, and after a lot of sleep, i
usually feel fine. But recently, i did it and for like 3 or 4 days
after i still didnt feel like myself. Whenever i would write something,
i would get very anal about it and stupid about it and keep erasing
each sentence and write it again like 10 times. It was taking me like
an hour to write one paragraph. I also had a hard time remembering
things that happened recently. But, I do feel fine now.

is there somethign that can be called casual meth use? i know from reading all over online that once someone startes to use meth it might just be casual in the begining and then they wont be able to function with out meth after a period of using... meth is a drug that is taking the US by storm because of it's highly addictive properities, and the ease of making it. be careful dude, because it might start off small and then devolop into a full blown habbit

Casual Meth Use is a myth. Ice is a desire. It's what people fanatasize and dream about. It's what the Party evolves around. It becomes something people cannot live without...they need it to survive.

Just remember it's only a mental addiction....casual use isn't casual...it's a fight day in and day out. Just roll with the punches and stay focused and in control.

I don't get it.......i have never felt a "craving" for it. The max i
ever do it is maybe twice a week (2 or 3 lines, 2 days in a row) and i
have only done that like once! I do it when i have no plans, or
sometimes when im out with friends.......if i continue this trend
without becoming an addict, am i safe?

people can use it casually, if you were to do it twice a month and
never anymore, that would be casual use. Even if you did it like once a
week it would be casual you. Once a week (depending on how much you do
in that one day) isn't even enough for your body to build up a
tolerance to meth let alone start getting addicted, I am not saying you
couldn't, but it just would be hard to picture a 'once a week addict'.

I used meth for a full year daily, got up to 2 grams a day for 4 - 5 days in a row, sleep for 2 days and start over again. After a year my body couldn't keep up anymore and I got my girl pregnant (don't ask me how, because meth is a killer for your sexdrive), so I had to stop. The only damage it did, is that I've got an ulcer, and my shortterm memory is not as good as it should be.

You can do meth for a pretty long time if you do it once or twice a month. Just m said, your body is running on 150 % and it only has a limited lifetimeake sure you eat properly and that you take your rest after...

Everything everyone said in this topic is true. Stories of meth addiction are classic, because they almost all happen in the same way and the particular addict would never, even after having begun using meth, have seen themselves in the position they are in. Talking to a fellow tweaker once, he mentioned that "it creeps up on you", which are the EXACT words I had previously described the onset of addiction as.

With coke or other "hard" drugs", a pattern of addiction can generally be established pretty easily, and that pattern broken to null any chance of becoming addicted. With meth, it's not like that. I was using it once a week for a while when I first started. Then, for no particular reason in the middle of the week, I did a line without even thinking about it, not ever realizing that I was taking the next step. You won't feel like you are getting addicted, but if you ever feel the desire to do it during the week, you need to STOP. Everyone starts out doing it once a week or so. Then before you realize it, three times a week, then five days a week, then every single day.

Meth = eeevil

But I love it

Ummmm...just my to cents. If your not looking to get addicted never smoke it(or inject it but thats given). When you smoke it its more addicting ad leaves you craving more than if you snort or eat it. But thats just me...it may be different for other people.

Well, I can say that I crave it occasionally, but it's certainly not something
that I let run my life. I haven't had any since the end of December 2004, but
I'm getting half a gram for the weekend

anything is good in moderation, but meth is something that you get hooked on, and moderation becomes addiction and dependency

Interesting food for thought on this thread, including the "soft drug/hard drug" distinction (a bit artificial I always thought).

Got me thinking about coke as well... probably less addictive than meth in powder form, but equally or more addictive when smoked/slammed. Except that coke is a 'party drug' and doesn't work like meth in terms of increasing functionality for work/studying/whatever, so it's less likely to "creep up on you" as someone said. Interesting.

SWIM's known a few people who manage "controlled addiction" with crack... every few years they binge on it, sell everything they own, etc. then stop, live a normal life for awhile, go to work etc. then do it all again. And they're aware of the pattern and don't mind it. Wonder if this could be applied to Ice or other forms of speed.Edited by: Nicaine

In my opinion (and personal experience), some people are more prone to
certain addictions than others. And remember I'm only talking about
psycological addictions here, which I find to be more powerful than
physical addiction (though I've never dealt with physical withdrawl).

When I used to smoke pot (about 10 months ago, so maybe my personality
has changed), if I had any pot laying around the house, I couldn't stop
myself from smoking it. Now I smoke cigarrettes, I've tried quitting
three times (longest I went was two days), I don't think I felt any
strong physical withdawls, but the psycological addiction got to me.

With DXM, when I first ordered my powder, I did it like five times a
week, but only because I wanted to have some fun, I wouldn't really
call it a psycological addiction. Now I do it like three times a month.

With concerta, which is the closest thing to speed that I've done, I do
56 mg at a time (and I agree it doesn't feel like a drug, it feels like
a tool), get a lot of work done, start to come down from it, get some
sleep, then for the next few days I don't have any cravings for it. I
do it about once a week. Although I hear that concerta has less
euphoria (and is much less stronger) than speed. I only use concerta as
a tool to motivate me, not for something to get high off of.

I guess it just depends on what you associate things with. I associated
pot with relaxation, and relaxation is something that I needed every
day. I associate tobacco with talking, watching TV, doing things on the
computer, and those are things that I do every day. I associate DXM
with fun and trippiness, and fun/trippiness is something that I only
want occaisionally. I associate concerta with cleaning, thinking, and
energy, and those may seem like things you need every day, but not for
me.

So from this theory... I guess that if you associated meth with weekend
fun, it's something that you'll only get a craving for on the weekends
when you're having fun. But I've never done speed and don't know what
it's like so I don't need anyone telling me how easy it is to get
addicted.

Oh, and another thing. When you have a large supply of something, it's
easy to use too much of it. When you have a lot of money, you spend a
lot of money. When you have a lot of pringles, you eat a lot of
pringles. When you have a lot of meth, you use a lot of meth. When I
first received my DXM in the mail, I had 10 grams of it, so of course I
was going to do it five times a day.

There is NO such thing as casual or occasional meth user. I have wanted or at least thought I wanted to curb my use, but it will never happen. Not as long as I keep lying to myself about wanting to. You either do it or you don't do it. You either never do it or you stop using it. There is no inbetween for the 99.9999999% of us. My husband was diagnosed 4 years ago with conjestive heart failure (not concerning the meth, though it did not help his condition any) quit using all together. He just made a decision that he wanted to live and figured he had a better chance if he quit meth. I'm proud of him and jealous at the same time. I honestly don't think I will quit till the day I die. However, best of luck to you anyway

I've seen side-by-side photos of meth brain and normal brain where the methe brain has almost NO ridges.

I can't find pics on the web right now, but here's data from UCLA, not ONDCP.
