Addiction - Off to Thailand

Swim is hoping to leave the UK behind and head for Thailand in about 6 to 8 weeks the only trouble being is that swim is a bad opiate addict and also on a 70 mg methadone script. What swim wants to know is can swim take there methadone with them say enough for 1 month and if not is there any help they can get whilst out there ? Plus the woman swim is going to knows nothing of this.

Kratom grows wild in Thailand. Swim was told kratom is illegal although as well.

Best bet would be to contact customs in Thailand and ask them directly regarding importation of methadone. Swim hears often of SE Asia's strict drug laws.

To take over 500 mg and/or more than 15 days’ supply of methadone abroad, a Home Office licence is required. You should apply for this at least seven working days before you travel. You must enclose a Ietter from your prescribing doctor, giving your name and address together with the strength, form and amount of methadone you will be taking with you, the daily rate prescribed and your intended dates of departure and return. The address to which you should apply is:

Dean Ryle Street, London SW1P 2AW

A Home Office licence is not necessary for amounts under 500mg, although it is advisable to carry a ‘to whom it may concern’ letter from your prescribing doctor, confirming that you are in possession of the drug for legitimate medical purposes.

Although following these guidelines will enable you to take methadone out of this country and bring any surplus back in, it is important to remember that it doesn’t mean you have the right to take it into the country/countries you are visiting. You should check with the embassy or consulate before departure to ensure that the country/countries to be visited will allow you in with your methadone. This may take a long time.

Swiy should do some research to find out the names through which one would aquire them, and then not have to worry about customs.

OMG!!! you are going to Thailand!!! As an opiate addict, SWYM should not have any problems finding what they need. They do know that where that shit originates from in the form of heroine and pure opium. They should be in heaven in Thailand!!!

Lots of things are possible in Thailand.. But most things are illegal !! Bangkok Hilton doesn't sound fun to swim. Best bet would be a trusted local to help you, corruption is everywere. Swims advice if something bad happens is: Pay and walk !

Swim had a Thai girl and been to Thailand a few times, lucky enough his girl showed him how things work over there. Rural areas will be saver as they police do stop and on the spot piss tests in big city's.

Best advice is cut a track across to Laos.
Or at least head into Northern Thailand,places like Chiang Mai and Pai(spell) are cheaper than southern thailand and things seem to become more available and less dodgee when upnorth.
Its a whay more laxed and friendly country...its cheaper and things are alot more easily and readily available in swims experience...

If your going there to use, you will have no problems. If you go there and try to take some back with you (and get caught, which you will), you may be executed.

swims a smoker, and a heavy h smoker at that, swim goes to thailand every three months. If you cross the border to cambodia, you can get any prescription drug without a prescription. Also, as others have stated, pai is the place for opium, right next to chang mai and swims been there and done that. I'm not telling you what to do, but there are plenty of places opiates can be located. If your worried about the law, id cross over the border and load up on what you need, but beware, they check baggage when crossing borders. Ive taken meth to Thailand a few times, but only enough for a week, to ease swims withdrawal from smoking the brown. I put it in a mouth wash bottle, and leave a little in there so the smell is the same. This is what swim would do anyway. Also, you can buy valium in most chemists, usually around the chinatown area, where the main train station is in Bangkok. Cambodia is far more chilled out than thailand, and is more suited to drug backpackers. Swim got a lovely gram of china white in cambodia, and it was better than anything else he has ever came across.
