Overdose - URGENT: I may have overdosed [RIGHT NOW]

OK, so i did a cold water extraction of 14 effervescent tablets containing 500mg paracetamol (acetametophen, APAP) and 8mg codeine each. (in around 100mg water) and i just found out also 338mg sodium in each tablet as well.

thats like 112 mg codeine and hopefully around 600mg acetametophen if the extraction worked.

if it didnt i could die i think. thatss 7000mg acetametophen.

the solution was was cloudy white after I added tablets, then put it in ice bat h for around 20 minutes and ran it through a coffee filter and it was clear. i drank the clear solution.

right now, my cheeks feel hot and i have a little pain in my chest.

could just be the codeine but im really nervous, could anyone suggest if i should nip on over to the emergence room or not?? thanks.

Howya feeling now? You'll likely experience some Tinitus (ringing/buzzing in your ears) that's the result of too much tylenol.

Were you drinking alcohol while taking the CWE liquid?

6000-7000mg of APAP I do not think will kill you (but I'm not a pharmacist), if it makes you feel any better I have taken up to 6000mg of tylenol, but is was something like 2500mg to start (took five 5mg/500mg oxycodone-APAP tabs) initially, then a couple every 4-6 hrs over the day.

My pharmacist (friend) told me that the daily limit of APAP is 2000mg, but some here have stated in other threads that they were told 4000 or 6000mg was the limit.

Dont sweat it... Just relax for a few minutes, keep the phone nearby just in case, and maybe invite a friend over to keep you company? I'd only go to the ER if you started having problems breathing or staying awake.

thanks so much for the quick talk, i only had about half a beer to chase the solution down, thats all ive had today i didnt even finish the beer, and yes my ears are ringing.

Call the closest hospital and ask for the ER. Try to talk to the Triage-Nurse. Explain the situation and ask him/her what to do. SWIM won't pass-out from 112mg of codeine. It's SWIM's liver and kidneys that are at risk from this level of acetaminophen (paracetamol). If SWIM ran the solution through a filter, it's likely most of the paracetamol was removed. A one-time dose of 7,000mg likely won't kill SWIM - but talk to a nurse just to put SWIM's nerves at ease. Or make needed preparations just in case something goes haywire.

thanks again, ive done some reading on paracetamol overdose and it seems 7000 mg really isnt that terrible as long as its a one-off type thing.

definitely more calm now than when i made my initial post

swiy should go and buy some acc (acetylcysteine) its an antidote for pcm. as soon as possible, it helps preventing any/further damage to your liver.

in my sig is a cwe faq which also contains information about apap poisoning and (self-)treatment.

btw 7g is quite a lot. 5.. ok.. but 7.. SWIM would be worried.but just like said before, what they do in the hospital can almost all be done by yourself (if swiy feels like he definitley doesnt have do go to the hospital) or at least give you some time. take acc and dont worry, if you are fine tomorrow everything is good. take it and the liver will do (by the time) the rest and recover, but he should give it some time and not drink much alcohol the next days if not weeks and not do that again (maybe also read the cwe fq for that )

ok, i think ill get some Acetylcysteine, but as im coming off the codeine high and thinking a little more clearly, isnt it likely that most of it was filtered out, the solution went from very milky white to transparent in the extraction, and a lot of chalky powder (about the size of a large marble when balled up) was left in the filter...should i really be that worried?

and btw.. yes. if swiy used cold water (swim didnt unterstand the waterbath part in your description) for filtering, like COLD, it should have been all filtered out!

sorry, ill clarify:

I dissolved the tabs in warm water, mixed it up, in a glass.
I then prepared an iron pot full of cold water and ice.
I put the glass into the pot, and left it until the solution in the glass was as cold as the ice water in the pot.
I then ran the solution in the glass through a coffee filter and it was VERY transparent, like water.

I've done CWE extractin with codeine tabs before, the only reason I was so concerned now is because i couldnt find any info on effervescent tabs, i was worried that with the effervescents the paracetamol would dissolve and get through the filter.

its been three and a half hours since i drank the solution and i feel pretty normal other than my cheeks are still warm.

Don't worry, sound like SWIyou did it perfect, though SWIM would be more worried about the high sodium intake. He never liked the fizzy tablets for this reason, he likes his kidneys to work! The cheeks being warm will be because of the codeine, for SWIM it feels great, roll with it!

well yes, the transparent soudns good, but SWIM kinda doubt that it gets cold enough for a "perfect" cwe. next time SWIY should just use warm water & put it in a fridge or freezer after, maybe with a lil ice to speed things up. when its close to freeze (but nothing frozen) filter it!

SWIM posted a thread a while ago about extracting codeine with Chloroform instead of water and SWIY might find it useful if he's scared about acetaminophen poisoning...
Also SWIY has to be careful not to incriminate himself!
