Stolen meds- what process to refill?

Well swim posted the other day about his little brother stealing his alprazolam and klonazepam. His little brother got in a BAD quad accident last september and became addicted to oxycodone like swim his 5 year older brother. His lil' bro has stolen oxycodone/methadone from his father and tramadol from his mother and now he has been stealing swims benzos!

Swim like he said above was addicted to opiates in general for about 3 years and could never STAY clean off them. Recently swim decided to go see a psychiatrist and a dr. who could prescribe suboxone. So swim got rx'ed the subs, 90 .5mg alprazolam, and 30 2mg klonazepam. Swim noticed his meds were starting to come up missing about a week ago and confronted his bro about it, but his little bro would not confess. So swim said "do NOT TOUCH my meds agaim or I'll report you to the police!!!".
Swim then found a GOOD hiding spot in his bedroom to hide the meds but yesterday came to find he only had 4 klonopins and a xanax left!!! Swim really does not want to prosecute his brother but he needs his medicine for when he has panic attacks and for sleep. He does not get refills until July 6th!!!

Swim does not know what to do here. He called his dr. and told him and he said swim must file a police report and prosecute his brother to be able to get refills!!! Swim really doesn't want to do this! Is there anyway swim could report the meds stolen so he can get a refill but not have to prosecute his little brother for it??? He wants his brother to go to rehab also, is there anyway instead of him having court cases and what not he could just go to rehab?

Swim appreciates any input greatly as he needs to find a solution fast!!!! Thanks in advance and to all have a great day!!!

Re: Stolen meds- what process to refill?

Swim wants to sympathize with swiy as swiy is in a bad situation all around. But unfortunately swim is not aware of where you are located in the world. In the US first and foremost the police will not prosecute swin your brother unless swiy actually physically observed him take it with swiy's own eyes, If swiy only has a suspicion that swin your brother took the meds they would not do anything at all. Although they still may take a report which may do swiy some good in obtaining some refills from swiy's doc. I know swiy really needs the meds but even if swiy wanted to prosecute swiy brother you could'nt on an assumption. SWIM does not know what to tell swiy about your meds as if swiy may have to just bear it until July. Unless swiy has some other way to obtain them. Hope swiy figures something out. Hope this helped.

Re: Stolen meds- what process to refill?

Thanks swiUNIBLACK a lot!!! Swim talked to his doc and all he needs is a police report stating that the meds were stolen, he does not have to know who did it. Swim will most likely file a report and say he does not know who took them but that they are stolen and he need s the report to get refills. swim thinks it is time to put his little bro in rehab to get him clean as this addicition has been going on for waayyyy tooo long!!! Now that swim is on the right track he can start helpin his bro get on track also!!! Any advice as to how swim can get his little brother into rehab would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Stolen meds- what process to refill?

Well Black, anyone that seems to have Swiy as a brother seems to be in a good position. To have an older brother who truly cares about your well being is a God send. One can see that swiy wants the best for swiy brother. I think swiy brother will have an easier time agreeing to treatment if he knows that swiy is wiling to be there for him every step of the way. One can also truly see that swiy just doesnt want him to go down the road swiy has already been through. Swim has many family memeber who where and still actively addicted. And throughout Swim's own addiction swim never remembers any of swi them try and rehabilitate anyone. Only add to SWIM's addiction. Also remember that inpatient is'nt for everyone. Somepeople recover better with extensive outpatient so maybe swiy you should try some diffrent approaches. After one has been addicted to opiates for any substantial amount of time life after recovery is not easy. Like SWIM always say's. Getting clean is'nt the answer to all your problems and it is not a miracle cure. Everything is not going to be great. But it will be better! Mind detects mind so when you are positive you attract positive things and positive people, this is a guarrantee not a maybe. Life without drugs is boring as hell for an addict. There's just no spark. But sometimes sparks cause fire and with fires sometimes people die. In the end just make swiy brother remember how life was before addiction, realize how simple it was.
