Hunger problems...

Swims been having problems balancing his cannabis use with his fitness.

The problem however isn't lung damage, swims main problem is severely over eating when getting the munchies, making the hours slaved away at the gym for definition completely lost at the hands of sweet and salty snacks.

Has anyone got any tips for swim on how he could control the amount he eats with the munchies, or possibly some healthy food that still satisfies the craving for sweet, salty snacks?

Try to fill up before smoking. I.e. Eat a load a veggies. Swim says the high is better because he doesn't just eat the whole time.

Milk man added 0 Minutes and 53 Seconds later...

Also, if you are worried about carbs, eat peanut butter. Go for the natural stuff with oil on top, swim says it tastes super good when high.

Re: Hunger problems...

Bagels always worked well for SWIM, he buys packages of like a dozen miniature bagels and when he gets hungry he'll cook up 3 or 4 and eat it with a tad of creme cheese. Lots of bread and wheat if you don't get white bread bagels, and the creme cheese can be used as a healthier substitute than say potato chips.

Soups are good too, get some vegetable soup, maybe some tomato soup, or even like sirloin something, they're not the healthiest things in the world, but they're filling and healthier than candy.

Toast is always good, but it defeats the purpose if you use butter, maybe like peanut butter toast?

Eggs are good too, filling too, and cheap.

SWIM says the solution is to make more meal-like foods instead of snacking, in the long run it tastes better too. Though, everyone needs the occasional cheese-it.

Re: Hunger problems...

Although i'm not particulalrly sure this would work in your case, this sage advice was given to me long ago and has always worked for swim:

"Beer before weed, no need to feed."

Re: Hunger problems...

Eat healthier food!

My friend, a regular user of cannabis, says that his favorite 'munchie' is a crisp, refreshing, fresh salad. He has some cucumber, lettuce, carrot, onion, and dressing, with occasional nuts. He also likes to eat fresh fruit: oranges, pineapple, watermelon...etc. He eats to his hearts desire, usually for very little money and with very little guilt! Your friend may find switching to healthier foods much easier than ceasing the munching habit altogether.

That being said, self-control and delayed gratification can be a powerful mental exercise. Tell your friend to try putting their 'will' to work when they smoke, exercise some self-guidance.

Re: Hunger problems...

Cheers for all the replies, Swim is very grateful!

He will probably have to start preparing food to eat before getting high instead of making the trip to the local newsagents when the hunger strikes!

Re: Hunger problems...

HAHA I can just imagine swiy dandering down to the store with a wide smile on his face, slapping his hand onto the counter and saying " 5 packets of Dorito's dude!"

Swim also has the same problem, even if he has dinner just before getting high, the munchies still hit him hard. No advice to give here my fellow. Terribly sorry.

Re: Hunger problems...

Swim has a big ol' problem with overeating after smoking. His smoking time turns into "eat every single type of taste and texture available" time. Pepto Bismol has become his friend.

He says that eating before smoking makes no difference for him.

He suggests replacing all bad foods with fresh fruits and veggies. Strawberries, for example. Wonderful munchie food.

Re: Hunger problems...

just try and replace chips and chocolate etc with shit like rice crackers with hummus dip and protein shakes withfruit(banana, strawberry etcetc)
swim smokes to ease the pain induced from lifting heavy weights at the gym,and although itsnot ideal smoking while going tothe gym,for swim the pain relief outweighs the negative effects on swims lungs...(just means gotta do more cardio)
