Megalomania?
Megalomania is the the historical term for behavior characterized by delusional fantasies of wealth, power, genius, or omnipotence - often generally termed as delusions of grandeur. Basically it means you think you are all powerful and can rule the entire planet... kinda like W. Bush
![]() But anyway, megalomania is a well-listed effect of some LSD. Has anyone experienced it, and if so how? A pink bunny once had a trip where she thought she was Alice in Wonderland and everyone were characters in her fantasy. She became very mean when people didn't do what she said, and tried to move them around and make them say things she wanted them to. Basically she was a very evil megalomaniac version of Alice in Wonderland. The pink bunny feels bad about it, and wonders if anyone else has experienced something similar |

Re: Megalomania?
Everyone is composed of the same deck of cards. We all have the King. We all got the Queen. We all have the Deuce. We all got the Joker. How you pop out of the mix is usually arbitrary. So yes - we all have a "pink bunny" that thinks it's God and sounds like G.W. Bush. It's in there somewhere. And LSD25 (and other psychedelics) is a wonderful way to find these critters.
But I'll leave your bunny with the following chunk-o-advice: It is the wise person who knows which card to play at any given time. While it is the Fool that is dealt the hand. |

Re: Megalomania?
Swim has never felt this way on acid.If anything swim felt humbled and like he was just a small part of a big picture. An important part of a big picture but still just a tiny part of that big picture. The great thing about lsd is it helps people center themselves and see that they can make a mark on that big picture. To swim it is an ego destroyer, after the ego is gone one can see their true importance.

Quote:
this has happened to swim too, after swim realised that swims interactions with other people are important because other people are as special, unique and powerful as swim is (or thinks swim is). swim changed from a know-it-all egotist to a human being.

Re: Megalomania?
LSD inflates the sense of importance in everything whilest under the effect of the drug. That is probably the single most identifiable characteristic of psychedelics. The mundane becoming the miraculous. It happens to everyone, but like Panthers said, SWIY just has to go by their instincts and hope that they are grounded enough to know what cards to play and when (marvelously put, btw panthers).
All of the things experienced under this inebriation are real to some degree; there is a you that is God... but by the same context: everyone is God, the only difference is that you've been given the gratuitous grace to recognize it. Abusing that most holy of realizations sort of defeats its own purpose, if you follow... |

Re: Megalomania?
Many years ago SWIM was taking mushrooms and he beleived he was God (Or at least said he did) and began saying that he could cause the stars in the sky to move when he pointed his figer and told them to move. SWIM was dating a born again christian girl and she never called him back after that.

Re: Megalomania?
If experiences of 'becoming God' count as megalomania, that's pretty common for high doses of most psychedelics. There is definitely a sense of self-importance, as songcycle said, and perfectly mundane or even nonsensical ideas can seem genius while under the influence.

SWIMs first experience with LSD he ended up doing a candyflip, as he was walking down the path it felt as though his feet were rotating the earth as he walked, was a great feeling but was only brief if i remember right.

Re: Megalomania?
SWIM was on mushrooms once when he told his friends that he was God, and that they were all in very big trouble if they didn't believe it. He was joking of course, but could easily see how it could get out of control.
